Yes I see. That will be how they make such huge losses every year as their readers prefer to get their information free rather than to pay for a paper copy. I wonder how long that will last.

This is an industry wide problem and its hard to see easy solutions.

Almost 10 seconds flight time. I wish the video was available.
Later edition of the article corrects the distance to 3,540 metres, so even more impressive.

Talk about "...couldn't hit a barn door at this dist..."

Qatari-funded media network Al Jazeera has hit back at Arab states' calls for it to be closed down.

The demands were an attempt to "silence freedom of expression", it said.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have imposed severe sanctions on Qatar, and sent a list of 13 demands it must meet before sanctions are lifted.

They also want Qatar to reduce ties with Iran and close a Turkish military base - all within 10 days.

It comes after more than two weeks of unprecedented diplomatic and economic sanctions in what is the worst political crisis among Gulf countries in decades.

Qatar, which sought to raise its profile in recent years, denies accusations that it is funding terrorism and fostering instability.

In a statement, Al Jazeera said, "We assert our right to practise our journalism professionally without bowing to pressure from any government or authority.

According to the Associated Press news agency, which obtained a copy of the list, Qatar must also:

* Sever all ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is banned in other Arab states

* Refuse to naturalise citizens from the four countries and expel those currently on its territory, in what the countries describe as an effort to keep Qatar from meddling in their internal affairs

* Hand over all individuals who are wanted by the four countries for terrorism

* Stop funding any extremist entities that are designated as terrorist groups by the US

* Provide detailed information about opposition figures whom Qatar has funded, ostensibly in Saudi Arabia and the other nations

* Align itself politically, economically and otherwise with the Gulf Co-operation Council

* Stop funding other news outlets in addition to Al Jazeera, including Arabi21 and Middle East Eye

* Pay an unspecified sum in compensation.

Finally able to get back on PC and type properly after that exhausting, strength-sapping heatwave, but at least we know what to expect the next time and remember we still have July and August to come.

Interesting to see last night's Question Time when someone got too bolshie and David Dimbleby suggested they leave - let's face it judging by the applause he got as he left he was on a hiding to nothing that idiot but it was also noticeable how the new Justice Secretary Ian Lidington look really narked when being interrupted - should be a good source of table-banging in future that one.

As I suspected Jean-Claude Juncker(whom the UK was opposed to in the first place to get the job) wasn't enamoured with the deal proposed by Theresa May and I also suspect he is going to make sure other countries feel the same way, but I could see at least two of them already disagree-man this Brexit thing could turn out to be one colossal disaster-one year on from us voting(although I and my mother voted to REMAIN)

Saw "Question Time" last night too....apparently the heckler that was kicked off the show by Dimbleby is Steve German, who (according to the Telegraph) is a committed campaigner for the Socialist Party and supporter of Jeremy Corbyn.

Regardless of his political convictions, the man was acting like a total prat, imo...

The Saudis don't like Al Jazeera because it goes off-message and refuses to parrott Saudi propaganda all the time. And a lot of people watch it.

You can usually tell if a news channel is worth watching by who complains about it.
