I'm sure you know, but that car in really good condition would probably go for $40k to $100k today. Especially if all the numbers matched and there was no rust.

Damn.

I am annoyed by the disappearance of Maxjoker on this thread. This was his crowning creation. He alone made almost 1,000 posts on this thread, but now he seems to have vanished on vef, though I always see him listed as one of the moderators. Is it possible that he has taken over the duties of the once late, great MrInBetween and he no longer has time to post? Where oh where are you Maxjoker?

Here is something that annoys me beyond description: I'm plenty old enough to remember when there weren't any graphics on the TV screen when you were watching a show. None. Can you imagine this? It was a beautiful thing.
Then, seemingly overnight, all the networks started adding their logos, usually at the bottom right hand corner of your screen, their call letters, what have you. All throughout the entire program. As if you need to be reminded every second what network you're watching.
Then, as if that weren't enough, they've begun advertising their other shows, all throughout the show you're trying to watch. The audacity of that! I think it takes massive balls to do that.
In other words, there are now not only commercials during program breaks, but right during the broadcasts! All the time! Pop ups, graphics, logos, all new blah blah blah thursday at eight...staring you in the face the entire time! During your show! I find it incredibly annoying and incredibly distracting. Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh!!!

Just as annoying and ball-breaking is that those pop-ups, snippets, and coming attractions bullshit always seem to happen right at a point where they block something vital and of importance to be seen in the show/movie -- as the station logo also usually does! And the logos seem to be getting larger and larger, as if like some station competition of who has the best logo!

Infuriating.
Also exceedngly irksome: shrinking-down the credits or shoving them to one side where they become too small to read. Worse still, running them at 1 million fps, with the same result.

And what is it with film-credits in general? The notion that everyone down to the tea-boy and the 3rd assistant director's catamite should get a mention, as part of an 'artistic endeavour', is a bit of a stretch.... I assume they are all more-than-adequately remunerated, so why all this superfluous ego-stroking? Some credits run almost as long as the bloody feature. Grrrr.

Another good reason to stop watching TV and buy/watch Blue rays or DVDs instead, That way, you get to watch what you want to see, when you want to see it and without all the commercials and assorted other bullshit that goes with it.

YES!

Can I say I agree 100% entirely with EVERYTHING that's been said above-the logo's in the corner, the 'coming up' pop-ups, shrinking the credits so that they're too small to read, etc.

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only person to have these problems, and their are many like-minded people out there too.

The 'coming-up tonight' logo in the corner of the screen-what's the point? My favourite are the ones that say things like "blah-blah-blah show, Thursday, 9pm, History Channel".
And I always think to myself "I DON'T CARE what's on another channel in THREE DAYS TIME! I just want to watch what's on NOW!"

Another favourite is something I've seen on channels like Comedy Central, where a pop-up in the corner of the screen says something like "Next: Cheers. Now, you are watching Friends".
And again, I think to myself "I KNOW THAT! I read the title, that's why I chose to watch it!"

It's not just US on here that's noticed this. The Simpsons have also picked up on this too, during one of their Treehouse of Horrors specials.

Watch this, you're going to love this!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_Vp1uA4qqc

"Can't anyone just watch the show they're watching?"

Here's a few more things that bug me:

Has anyone noticed the habit these days of, when a show comes back after a short break, they then spend the next ten seconds repeating everything we've already seen earlier in the show, has if we've already forgotten what happened earlier.
We KNOW what happened in parts 1, 2 and 3! We're not goldfish! Our memory spans do last longer then just 15 minutes.

Also, with regards to the shrinking of credits thus making them ineligible-not only is this infuriating but they've now got continuity announcers talking over it too.
It's got to the stage where every time I start to hear someone talking over the credits (especially if the shows got a good theme tune that I like) the number of times I've actually ended up shouting SHUT UP! at the TV.

Without wanting to sound too cruel, continuity announcers are one group of people I wouldn't mind seeing down at the job center...

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the sad truth about the TV industry these days: they treat us, the viewers, has IMBECILIES!
