There was a teller at my local bank who said, upon my entering the building, that her son's name is Adam but her husband / his dad calls him "Bruce". I told her it made sense, because "Adam West played Batman, otherwise known as Bruce Wayne.." [to misquote EPMD] I didn't mention the Marine Reservist who thought that he was Batman, who I worked with in 2012-13... )

Kinda burnt out on comics to a extent right now, combination of trying to read way too many & garbage like the Steve Rogers as Hydra happening to my favorite characters.

Focusing on these series for now.
Superman (rebirth)
After 2013's Man of Steel I've gotten into Superman pretty strongly, love this series.
Action Comics (rebirth)
Very blah in comparison to the above series, only reading because they tie into each other.
Wonder Woman (rebirth)
Liam Sharp's hyper detailed & precise art is a godsend after the very simplistic work of Cliff Chiang & the Inconsistent work of David Finch on the title for the New52.
Also really like what they are doing to make Cheetah & Veronica Cale notably sympathetic.
The Mighty Thor (the female Thor book)
Decent stuff, hate is overplayed but it does have issues.
Black Panther
The main ongoing not the mini series that was recently canceled & had tons of BLM propaganda in it.
Really fantastic world building for Wakenda in this at the point that I paused at, need to resume.

Finished Frank Miller's The Dark Knight 3 - The Master Race, Ok overall but the last issue is great and to a extent is basically a apology to those who think he wrote Superman badly in the Dark Knight Returns/Strikes Again & a clarification that he does get the character now.

Each to their own I guess. I miss my DC fix, but Rebirth is so bad I have stopped reading comics (I could never get into Marvel) until the universe blows up again or something and it all starts anew.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, DC probably won't be rebooting for quite some time now. They had the opportunity to do that with the whole New52 back in 2011, but it was completely squandered by goofy editorial moves like; "Ok, this character will get a complete restart, but this character who had good sales, well, we will just leave him alone."

That doesn't work, and trying to condense Batman's entire history down to 5 years came across as one of the biggest clusterf*cks that came out of the whole deal. Same goes for Green Lantern. "Oh this story happened, cause we didn't reboot that history, it just didn't happen the way it was published ..."

Uh, what?

I don't think DC has the courage to do a complete restart, and if the New52 was any indication, perhaps it's for the best?

I'm finding DC's Rebirth to be much better than the clusterf**k that was the New 52. One of the constant refrains is "We've got to make it accessible for the new readers who won't get bogged down with the history of the characters." But that just puts off old readers who have invested a lot of time and money into the characters.

One example is the Flash. Wally West was the Flash for over 20 years when they decided to bring Barry Allen back. That allowed DC to get into the legacy aspect of the characters. Then came the Flashpoint storyline and when it was over, Wally was gone. For the readers who only knew Wally as the Flash, that was a kick in the teeth. With Rebirth, Wally is back and I think DC learned its lesson.

Don't get me stated on the Superman-Wonder Woman relationship.

Comics played an important role in my childhood. I was a keen reader of several and would love to pick up any boys comic at a summer fete or jumble sale. My favorite was Battle picture weekly which I had delivered. I loved the early stories like Lofty's One Man Luftwaffe and Terror Behind the Bamboo Curtain. Couldn't get enough of The Team that went to War, Cold Steele, The Unknown Soldier and Darkie's Mob. I started buying Roy of the Rovers, Scoop and the short lived Speed. Second hand copies of Valiant, Warlord and Tiger were great. When 2000ad was the last remaining comic I got into that.
As a pre-teen it was Shiver and Shake, Monster Fun and the odd Beano and Dandy.
American comics were an occasional foray. Spider-Man being the best. Comic versions of Planet of the Apes were good too.
It seems comics don't exist for the kids of today but I have loads of scans stored as well as a big collection of actual Battle comics.

I'm old enough that the comics I started out with were mostly from Disney and Dell, along with some Archie comic group ones: Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Richie Rich, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Roy Rogers, Tarzan, Little Lulu, Dennis the Menace, Davy Crockett, etc. Later, of course, I was thought old enough to read the superhero books when they made a comeback, along with the old EC books (my dad was a liberal guy in that respect.)

My childhood comics were similar to both of yours. Early teens I read Marvel and DC and gradually came to the view that DC got all the A-list superheroes and Marvel got the second bananas so I stopped reading Marvel. Eventually I turned to collecting and maybe about ten years ago, sold those off at auction. I have to admit, I was quite astonished at how much I got for some comics. Then when my youngest daughter got married, her husband got me back into reading DC again. Crisis, Infinite Crisis, New 52, Zero Hour, Flashpoint...I ate 'em all up.
And then came Rebirth. So I've given up reading comics until the universe blows up again or something.
