And worst of all, the Blue Jays have won twice as many championships as the Maple Leafs in the last 50 years.

Yes and most importantly this year was the first year since 1946 that the Maple Leafs did not sell out every home game. Life is easy as a sports franchise when you a: sell out every seat no matter how baldy you play and b: are the defacto Hockey Night In Canada game west of Cornwall. This year both A and B came to a crashing end.

Also... under Major League Baseball Rules when no post season play occurs such that no team can be determined as the World Series Winner for purposes of continuity the team that won the season before will be considered as still being the world champions. So in other words... the Blue Jays on paper were the champions 3 years in a row since the strike occurred following their second win and resulted in there being no new champion series.

Everything is semantics... never the sports.

If you Maple Leafs fans think you have it tough, try being a Chicago Cubs fan. They haven't won a championship in OVER A CENTURY!!!!

Let that sink in for a moment. We are talking over a hundred years. To put it in perspective, Keith Richards was only 24 at the time they last won a title!

But, since nothing can kill Keith Richards, at least he'll still be alive the next time the Cubs win it.

The Cubs last won a World Series title since 1908. Their last NL pennant was in 1945. To put that in perspective, only the Expos/Nationals (in existance since 1969) and the Mariners (since 1976) have not won a pennant.

The Quartelfinal lineup

USA-Switzerland
Canada-Belarussia
Sweden-Russia
Finnland-Czech Republic

looks interesting only in the bottom half, as one would expect.

Two things I've found noticeable so far: First, the top teams seem to have build up the gap to the lesser nations again. Remember a few years ago teams like Slovakia, Norway or even Germany were much closer to reach the final stages. Secondly, one has to wonder how the Canadian team has cruised through the tournament. I wonder if this is due to all them stars being relegated out of the NHL-Playoffs prematurely They will need some stopping

Which is sad, considering that the Leafs go back to 1917, while the Jays only go back to 1976.

NHL Final Four
Anaheim vs. Chicago; Tampa Bay vs. NY Rangers

Chicago has a talented core of players who have won a Cup, Tampa is fast and very talented, New York is resiliant and I admit I don't know too much about Anaheim. That being said, I'd like to see an Original Six Cup final.

And once more the Capitals surrender a 3-1 lead in games, for about the 10th time in the last 30 years. I just checked my English-Russian dictionary, and Ovechkin translates to overrated choker. Who knew? I still have my ticket from the first Caps home game in 1974, but I am completely sick of them. They should have won at least 3 Cups by now, but no matter who the players are, who the coach is, or where the arena is, the end is always the same. If anyone here is a Rangers fan, don't you dare think you actually accomplished anything last night. All you had to do was show up and let the Caps find their own way to defeat.
