War Movie Music
Some war movie music reminds us of days gone by. I heard this beautiful music a gazillion years ago
Does anyone like it? Is Paris Burning? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUs1UdEqL5g Last edited by palo5; December 17th, 2011 at 11:53 PM.. Reason: changed text |

Zulu
I'm a Welshman and they always used to show this whole movie to the assembled school at Christmas. A teacher would stand in front of the projector if there were any breasts in the frame.

"633 Squadron" was a great war movie with really memorable music.
The special effects were the worst. Mostly done in miniature with wires but once you get past that and just go with it, the music makes up for it. |

John Ford
Always enjoyed the music that was so much a part of John Ford's US Cavalry pictures, mostly marching songs and campfire songs. It runs all through 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon', 'Fort Apache', 'Rio Grande', and 'The Horse Soldiers'.
Ken Curtis, 'Gunsmoke's' comic-relief hayseed, "Festus Haggin" sang in many of those pictures, and had a fine voice. |

Any Ron Goodwin. Paid a fair price for a copy of 'Operation Crossbow' soundtrack...
And Jerry Goldsmith too. |

I loved the Das Boot theme by Klaus Doldinger:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snnwjoToN-8 Ron Goodwin who sadly passed away only a few years ago was a tremendous film composer and I loved The Battle Of Britain score particularly the rousing Aces High march: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZJdRRN3dOQ Sergey Prokofiev wrote some tremendous music for the film Ivan The Terrible as Ivan Rurik laid waste to the Mongol khanates and advanced on Kazan. He and Eisenstein fell foul of Stalin and the proletariat musician associations and the score was left in the dark and was later turned into a cantata: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QPbWVqLTi4 |
