Windows 10?

I just bought a new laptop and I course I was plagued with Windows 10.
The machine which cost me almost 3 000 €uros is full of technology.
It has 16 Go RAM.
So with such a machine all should be well except it is running Windows 10.
At launch one time in four, I have to do a relaunch.
The compiler (not a Microsoft one, happily) takes more time than the one on my main computer.
Every time I install a new application, there is the problem of Microsoft which wants me to buy on their website.
I have had to configure the system to avoid all unnecessary applications (I have no time and no wish for using their shit).


As a result I constantly have to re-install the parameters.

I would install windows 8.1 on it, then install the add-on User Interface called classic shell, then shrink the disk volume by 60 gb and install linux mint 18 on the 60gb as a dual boot config. Windows 10 is a real role reversal, instead of the PC working for its owner, the owner works for the PC. There is a bright side to win10 though, world class anti-malware, but at what sacrifice?

How would you install Windos 8.1 on a machine which was delivered with Windows 10, without having to pay for it (that is to say paying a second time for the OS) ?
I am not even sure I could revert to Windows 7 since that was not included.

I am not in the mood for paying gifts to MS.

Win 8.1 ISO is easy. right on MS site. Burn or extract the ISO, install, and then edit a file to avoid the 25 character key prompt.

I had to have windows for a few applications, so i chose 8.1 and i really like it.

It is a process, but win 8.1 was worth it for me, i still love my linux though, so i dual boot and use linux for the telecom, and win8.1 for my applications, just leave it disconnected.

Edit:

the new windows licenses (8 and 10) are sometimes written into the machine firmware, Activation is automated that way.

I chose 8.1 because it seems as though MS has an eradication campaign for win7 (can't get a win7 iso as easy as a win8 iso) , and win8,1 is somewhat immunized from that campaign, It doesn't really matter if you don't connect windows to the net anyway. The update syndrome is not applicable if windows is isolated,

Yes, there must be an eradication campaign for W7, which must be due to two reasons:
- Windows 7 is very stable;
- there are more copies of Windows 7 around the word and still alive than all the other versions of Windows.
Windows 8.1 was a bettered version of Windows 8 but still not as good as Windows 7.

How I regret the time when I used Windows 7!!!
It seemed only the sky was the limit.

Hopefully, someone might have an answer to this. My fairly new Dell desktop completed quite a long download and update yesterday (Win 10 Home 64). Since then, I have been experiencing almost random screen blackouts for a second or two.

Any ideas?

What kind of monitor /screen do you have?
