I really can't understand this modern day fascination with incest. It was something that occurred a hundred years or so ago when people didn't have much choice due to poor transport links and isolated communities but these days there's absolutely no need for it.

Personally, the very thought of having sexual intercourse with members of my own family fills me with repugnance. Watching some other family doing it on film would have a similar effect and I can only assume that people who get turned on by it secretly fantasise about the act.

Incest is illegal in the UK as well as in most civilised countries. Absolutely rightly in my opinion.

There's something wrong with society that you need laws like that to begin with.There's some things people shouldn't even think about doing.The further we go into this anything goes society we're living in now it won't be long till anything goes,it won't even be safe for the animals.

The prohibition of incest is a legal and cultural one. The risks of genetic anomalies in close family breading are well known. There is nothing programmed in or genes to stop it, the revulsion at the idea is created though upbringing/learning.

I'm not sure about other states, but in mine, it's only illegal if it's done "procreative." So if she's on the pill, or you're wearing a condom, it's legal.

Relations with say a cousin is not as unusual as, some, people think. 90% of European royalty are cousins. In the old antebellum south in America, which tried to emulate European royalty/upper society, it was the custom to marry a cousin...it kept the property/money in the family.

In some states in the USA, Incest is illegal. In one state they noted that the last time anyone was tried for incest was in the 1920s, and they were acquitted. It seems the law is not interested in pursuing these crimes, unless you do it in public or bring attention to yourself, or there is a complaint. Porn with actors pretending to be family members would not be prosecuted. With all the violence in society, I cannot see law enforcement even prosecution of any real incest. It would be a low priority.

I do know of one person that was prosecuted for incest. He raped his daughter. So in addition to the other charges, they added incest just to hammer him a little more.

A lot of states still have laws on their books that they never enforce. Abortion, for example. Most state's still have laws on their books against abortion, but cannot prosecute anyone for it because of Roe v. Wade, but the laws remain on the books until the state's legislature repeals them.

not necessarily. if you visit places that focus on that topic, there are a lot of people that a. don't fantasize about their own family members or b. don't even have said family members to begin with (e.g. it's absolutely possible to fantasize about incest with a sibling despite not actually having a sibling in real life).

in many cases the fantasy much less about the particular people that are involved but about the taboo or the "intimaticy" regarding it.


also, regarding being put off by the thought of having sex with existing family members: that applies to most people that grow up together (the "incest barrier"). that being said, interestingly due to "genetic sexual attraction" if becomes even more likely to be attracted to each other if you didn't grow up together (which btw is why the insults towards people that hooked up with relatives they only got to know recently - e.g. someone meeting their mom/dad/brother/sister for the first time after growing up elsewhere due to being adopted - is ridiculous).
