As a native Californian, I am all for that. We would no longer be bleeding tax dollars to the federal government for the support of red states. I was with a friend at the NEC Motorcycle Show recently and not for the first time we were rather underwhelmed by the plethora of scooters and race-replicas and techno-bikes and the absence of real motorcycles meant for real world use. But we passed a stand full of extreme custom bikes, heavily inspired by Easy Rider. Stupid cow-horn handlebars, ridiculously long forklegs at a really improbable shallow angle to the ground, enormous V twin engines allied to daft fat back tyre and daft thin front tyre and weedy brakes; they even had brown suede leather seats with tassels.

I shot a quizzical look at my friend, who pulled a face and commented:

That bike's got "Shag me up the shitter" written all over it.

Very unfair to the LBGT community to associate them with that sort of motorcycle, and we were being very naughty; but it was liberating not to be politically correct but to just say what we were both thinking. Now we just say "That's a SMUTS bike" and we both understand.

SMUTS, yep. The riding position probably prepares the rider for the inevitable. Judging by the cafe racer handlebars and the drum brakes it probably takes longer than the Exxon Valdez to stop or go around corners as well. Not worth a carrot.
