Default Rugby Union

I feel we should have a single rugby union thread, turmoil intrigue and exiting days are ahead .We have seen the best RWC ever, the fallout were an honest man S Lancaster fell on his sword yet the hirers and firers remain. The sad demise of the legend Jonah who heralded in some say the professional era may he RIP.The first rounds of the European Challenge Cup with games unplayed because of the tragic events in Paris,English owners stating their fixture list cannot accommodate replays??
I love Rugby Union and I would love to hear from fellow supporters ,{anyone really}.On VEF there have been many threads I would like them merged for the season ahead to include Club competitions ,European competitions ,Six Nations,The Rugby Championship, Autumn Internationals and the Holy Grail The Lions...regards teaktop

Eddie Jones has been appointed England's head coach.

Will he bring in his own sub-team ? I would expect so since if the current incumbents remain there will still be issues.

Good luck Eddie. England are not Japan as you will soon find out.

So, are you going to give a big thank you to the Rugby League boys, who actually managed to win a series against the New Zealander's?

Sorry to disagree with you teaktop, but I think one thread will get too messy. The nature of the competitions in RU is that they are self contained, relatively short, and intense. To my mind, having one thread will be a recipe for defragmantation. The threads for specific competitions only remain popular while the event is in progress and then settle in the background once it's over, which seems more satisfactory to me, as it keeps the discussion focussed.

Regards

I agree with the OP, and therefore not with 40plus.

One thread one sport why not it works for the other sports discussed on here.

I just thought that the RWC is over but the Eddie Jones appointment [first non English coach] was worth commenting on,and sadly Jonah Lomu. The various club competitions are on going ,and the self-interest politics that they throw up,so they all sort of need a home.

So Eddie is already singing the company song "Play in England if you want to play for England".

I'll be honest here since my head and heart will be forever Welsh that my belief is that the RWU is spineless inasmuch that they allow the Premiership clubs to rule the roost. None of the other home rations act in this way. In fact none of them could probably field a decent team if they did.

Eddie has also stated that he will talk with both Robshaw, who will not be his No.7, and the rest of the coaching team who must now convince him that their vision matches his.

But Eddie's contract only goes to 2019 and it seems he will then stand aside whatever with the intent to bring English coaches to International level. That being so, would it not be better to identify these candidates now and bring them in early rather than wait until after the next torunee.

In normal circumstances, I'd agree with that approach, but the Six Nations is no place to blood new international coaches.
