I really don't care how much they get paid as much as the way they conduct themselves. Are they rap stars or professional athletes?
I'm pretty sure Plax thought he was above the law, and as I seem to remember, that's what his defense team tried to play on, but the NYC legal system wouldn't let him. And then there's Chris Henry with his legal troubles and subsequent tragic death, Santonio Holmes and his drug suspension for the coming season and Donte Stallworth returning from his legal troubles. And yet, Terrell Owens is considered a bad guy and has done nothing like what the previously mentioned WR's have done.

Heeeeeeeyyyyyy!

Is that a Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan??? I am (temporarily) just across the bridge from you, right next to the big waterpark!

Agree about T.O., he is not a legal problem, but he is viewed as a cancer in the locker room. Whether it is merited or not, is a matter of opinion - but teams seem to be laying off of him. Mind you - he has run through his share of QB's...

I remember reading early on in the proceedings that Plax was working on a plea bargain, until Mayor Bloomberg got his nose into the case & pressured the DA to go for a more applicable penalty. He wanted the city to set an example. If that were you or I my brother, you can bet your life we'd be spending the maximum time under the law in prison. We would not have gotten off that easy - even if it was a 1st time offense.

Hilts...it's Virgil isn't it? I'll keep it Hilts. I read alot of your posts on the music threads (you have great tastes) and it is good to see you here!
It's hard not to cheer for the Saints even as a Vikings fan.The relationship between the fans, city and team is really unique. It was a great thing to watch the last few years and I think everyone in the States was cheering for them last year, except maybe Indiana I'm just wondering though, with your affinity for Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, the Saints and with your screen name and all, are you an exiled Southerner living abroad?

I wish I was kidding my brother. He did an phone interview on one of the ESPN afternoon shows yesterday. He was saying that he only retired 2 years ago, so he thinks he can come back. The media guys were joking about it all day. Penny Hardaway was a very good player in his Orlando Magic days, but those were a long time ago. He jumped from team to team after that because all the money he signed for when he was good, didn't make any fiscal sense anymore once he was just mediocre. I forget the terms of that deal he had, but I know it was a long term contract & Orlando got hardly any return on that deal.
After the contract ran it's course, he was very much a hanger-on in my opinion. A shell of his former self.

I found the whole thing to be hilarious because there's this nonsense where Hardaway is trying to get a tryout with Miami, at the same time it's being rumored that they're trying to get Shaquille O'Neill! Why not try to get Micheal Jordan, Magic Johnson & Larry Bird out of retirement?

Nah, just an Englishman that loves the South! Been to The Big Easy twice now, great town!! Walked Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg last summer, some experience that! Oh, and we saw The Saints beat The Bengals in the Dome Pre-Season. Now that Superdome, whew...........!!

What I remember most about Penny, was that he was often injured. Good player, just brittle.

I'm guessing you've also heard about the 'bankrupt sensation' Antoine Walker also wanting to come out of retirement? He needs the $$$, mind you..

(Him, along with Pippen, Spreewell...)

How long do you figure JaFlubber Russell will last before he's filing for Chapter 11? (or in jail for 'purple drank')
