My Archives website

What has happened to the My Archives.net website? I lost the ability to access the galleries last fall and now it appears to have disappeared completely. Anyone know why?

I myself has had trouble accessing the site but it's still around. You have to google it by typing just the address without the www., it's the second result not the first one where it says click to proceed.. I'm using google (U.S.)

The last time it was discussed it seemed like they were scoring own goals at their users expense due to some dubious practices like

5 part films with the 5th part requiring premium membership

Not to mention where most of their content came from - here

Now according to avast its malware infected - if your going to go looking for it via such means as the waybackmachine make sure your browser is sandboxed

I was a member of My Archives and a lot of the content ended up here, the other way around. Many members here were also members of My Archives, in fact I know that pictures I posted on My Archives were downloaded and then posted here, with credit to me.

I was a member too and I posted some pictures on there that I had already posted here, I also "acquired" a number of pictures there that I posted here.

And I had a good number I posted there posted here without any credit whatsoever - in fact (snort) before I could post them here myself!

I liked that it seemed to be better and not multiple postings, or taking images and just converting them to B&W or cropping them and posting them as "new". Plus the "conversant" (non image) sections were pretty thoughtful. But I do like VEF a lot - I think they each had their place. I feel this is more UK and that was more US, not that it made much difference.

I too was a long standing member (chortle) of MA and it's very sad to see it go.

Every time I visited I made a point of clicking on several adverts as a small way of contributing towards the running costs but most of the links didn't work. For this reason and a few others I got the impression that the owner ran the site as a sort of hobby.

With the amount of material that the site held and the several vBulletin makeovers it had it couldn't have been cheap to run which may help to explain why My Archives is no more.

I'm surprised that some enterprising individual or even the owners of Vintage Erotica Forums haven't made a cheeky bid for the site and its contents. It has loads of pictures the vast majority of which wouldn't be subject to copyright requests, sort the advertising out, add new servers, bin the dubious film download links, get in a load of volunteer moderators to do all the running around for you and it would be an almost guaranteed money spinner.
