IMHO, Vettel knew exactly what he was doing when he left no room for Hamilton and almost caused a collision. To blame his "lack of control of the car" is rather a self-defeating argument as one is either a capable F! driver with superb ability to control a car in all conditions or one is not, in which case should he be in Fi then?

I used to love F1 decades back but imo it's turned into a parody thanks to all the safety stuff with the cars and tracks plus having to introduce fake overtaking aids so drivers could actually race. Some twat committee actually agreed to fit gimmicky metal sliders under the cars so they could generate sparks. FFS, ten million quid sparklers. Give yourselves a pay rise fellas.
I find I get more excitement watching an old Northwest 200 on Youtube that I've already seen and know the result of than watching F1. The only decent bit of F1 these days is the start, after that it's pretty much a procession where you know roughly where all the teams will finish, barring accidents/mechanical failures. The management have killed it as a sport. |

In three weeks. The Cricket World Cup final, Wimbledon Men's final and British GP will be held on the same day.
It's fascinating to me that a country can hold three major sporting events on the same day like that, and not have any debate about the scheduling? |

It may also be that somebody didn't think it through.

Event calendars are set by the governing bodies, namely the ICC (schedule announced late 2006), ITF/LTA & FIA, who I suspect rarely liaise with each other. The British GP has usually interfered in some way with Wimbledon. The 2018 LTA decision to permanently defer Wimbledon by one week averted last year's potential GP clash but instead 'fouled' the FIFA World Cup final. |

So I went from the F1 to the IndyCar yesterday, and despite Rossi walking off and winning the race by 30 seconds, the rest of the field fought mightily and it was round a real racing circuit instead of a test track. Then the NASCAR was just as much fun too.…...

Watching a wall brings me more excitement than watching that snoozefest every race weekend.

Maybe not a debate. But I'm a bit surprised that these type of clashes seem to be accepted by the public, and there's little effort to seperate them.
Twice this century, England has hosted the BGP, Wimbledon final and the first stage of the Tour de France on the same day. Something like that would cause a meltdown down here. |

It used to be the case that the BBC would show all three events.

I guess it's just normal to have schedules like that over there, and you're used to it being like that.
