These men, Bolton especially, are war-mongers and prostitutes of the military-industrial complex. It's possible, of course, that Mr Trump only knew their names from watching Fox News and thought they were cool; and has since found out that they have a different policy agenda to his. Mr Trump doesn't do "due diligence", because that takes work and effort.

John Bolton and Tillerson are foreign policy Neo-Cons. They subscribe to same school of thought as Paul Wolfowitz. From what I've read they believe that the US was directionless after the Cold War and the collapse of the USSR left a power vacuum both globally and internally within the United States. Basically they felt that Republicanism (and therefore America) should define itself by an existential threat as the domestic policy middle ground had been claimed by The Democrats.

Que Team America- 'Fuck Yeah' music and 4 decades of Middle Eastern wars.

I have to agree with you there. Tillerson was a poor choice in that he was really unfamiliar with the workings of the State Department, but he did understand that war is bad for all business other than arms makers. McMaster and Mattis, as distinguished combat leaders, were more inclined to diplomatic solutions and familiar with the Mideast players. Flynn was a loose cannon.

A big part of the problem is that Trump doesn't know what he is doing, has preconceived ideas, and lacks impulse control. He had good people, but did not like what they were telling him.

Bolton and Pompeo are dangers to world peace, but there is evidence that they are beginning to clash because neither man works and plays well with others. Pompeo is kind of a demagogue looking to build his brand and not liking that Bolton runs a secretive and exclusive shop..

North Korea's Kim Jong-un receives 'excellent' letter from Trump
Quote:
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has received a personal letter from US President Donald Trump.

Mr Kim praised the letter as "excellent" and said he would "seriously contemplate the interesting content", the KCNA news agency says.

He also praised Mr Trump's "extraordinary courage". No details of the letter's content were given.

The White House confirmed the existence of the letter in an email to Reuters news agency.

"A letter was sent by President Trump and correspondence between the two leaders has been ongoing," spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.

Earlier this month, Mr Trump said a beautiful letter had been sent to him by the North Korean leader.

It was not disclosed when or how Mr Trump's letter to Mr Kim had been delivered.

US 'launched cyber-attack on Iran weapons systems'
Quote:
The US launched a cyber-attack on Iranian weapons systems on Thursday as President Trump pulled out of air strikes on the country, US reports say.

The cyber-attack disabled computer systems controlling rocket and missile launchers, the Washington Post said.

It was in retaliation for the shooting down of a US drone as well as attacks on oil tankers that the US has blamed Iran for, the New York Times said.

There is no independent confirmation of damage to Iranian systems.

The US is set to impose further sanctions on Iran that President Trump has described as "major".

He said the sanctions were needed to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and economic pressure would be maintained unless Tehran changed course.

'Make Iran Great Again': Trump Says He'll Be 'Best Friends' With Iran If Country Agrees to Nuclear Demands
Quote:
Amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran, President Donald Trump said Saturday that he would be the Islamic Republic's "best friend" if the country agreed to renounce nuclear weapons and abide by other demands.

"We're not going to have Iran have a nuclear weapon... when they agree to that, they're going to have a wealthy country," Trump, preparing to leave for Camp David, told reporters gathered outside the White House. "They're going to be so happy, and I'm going to be their best friend. I hope that happens."

"Let's make Iran great again," the president added. "That's okay with me."

You know you are on the wrong side of history when you argue that our concentration camps aren't as bad as other people's concentration camps.

Yet, but you're only a "final solution" away which is sort of the point.

You're right; we still bury them. So did Chelmno and Treblinka. Auschwitz ran out of space after a year.

Default Iran: New US sanctions target Supreme Leader Khamenei

US President Donald Trump has said he is imposing hard-hitting new sanctions on Iran, including on the office of the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Mr Trump said the additional sanctions were in response to the shooting down of a US drone and "many other things".

Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's highest authority, was singled out because he was "ultimately responsible for the hostile conduct of the regime".

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said the Americans "despise diplomacy".

In a tweet sent after the announcement, Mr Zarif also accused the Trump administration of having a "thirst for war".
