Kelly Tough was NOT in Terri Welles' year. Kelly Tough was in the Shannon Tweed year. That's who she "lost" to.

Well then I stand corrected. But the results are still the same. Kelly > Shannon.

Western Canada over Eastern Canada. IMO of course.

The sad thing about some of these choices is they were for political/public relations reasons and not about the attractiveness of the women.

In 1967 Angela Dorian was the PMOY. I would have considered Joey Gibson (below) a more worthy candidate. She was dropped from consideration because she was convicted of prostitution. I had thought that Playboy cherished it's "girl next door" tradition, and I lived next door to a brothel.

To add to the irony, a white supremacist/ neo-Nazi male with the same name is running for the U.S. Senate this year.

My picks for PMOY:
1984 - Alana Soares
1990 - Petra Verkaik (Greatest rack of all time! ( . )( . ) )

1995 - Shae Marks (One of the greatest fake racks ever )

1998 - Karen McDougal was a great choice but Carrie Stevens or Kelly Monaco would have been as well. Tough year to judge

1999 - Tiffany Taylor (My personal favorite of all time Now imagine if there were three of her like the Dahm triplets )

2000 - Tishara Cousino (One of my most favorite Playboy shots )

2001 - Brooke Berry or Shannon Stewart
2002 - Miriam Gonzalez (One of the very few naturals to rival Petra)

2003 - Divini Rae
2005 - Aliya Wolf (Honorable mention to Playboy Cyber Girl of the Year 2005, Amy Sue Cooper. She would have made a fine playmate.)

2006 - Amber Campisi. Christine Smith coming in very close at second place.
2009 - Regina Deutinger. (Honorable mention to Ukrainian Playmate of the Year 2009, Eugenia Diordiychuk)
2010 - Hope Dworaczyk got my vote but I will also mention Playboy Cybergirl of the Year 2010, Tess Taylor. (She could have easily replaced one of the Shannon twins for a Playmate spot.)
2012 - Iryna Ivanova
2013 - Shelby Chesnes
2014 - Alyssa Arce
2015 - Jessica Ashley
2016 - Chelsie Aryn or Ana Cheri

Wasn't Lonny Chin strongly considered - may have even had the 'votes' - but Hef was concerned with her growing drug dependency? Feel free to fact check me on this one.

Default I'm a contrarian, I guess

I started following PB in '78, but obviously I'm not in their main readership, since it seems as though many of the PMOY decisions came down to who would look best standing next to Hefner, rather than being the woman with the most appeal to the general public:

1978: Debra Jensen, with Marcy Hanson & Kathryn Morrison being very memorable.
1979: Vicki McCarty would have made a beautiful, articulate PMOY, an excellent symbol for PB, though Missy Cleveland, Michele Drake, & Candace Collins made quite an impression on me.
1980: Jeana Tomasino, with Sandy Cagle being the only other competition, for me.
1981: Shannon Tweed, being one of the few PMOY's I agree with, a classic tall, slender blonde, but this was really a big boob year, with my other favorites being Vicki Lasseter & Kym Herrin.
1982: Marlene Janssen, as a welcome change of pace, along side other classic models, Charlotte Kemp & Linda Vaughn.
1983: I always preferred Tracy Vaccaro, but Barbara Edwards was an excellent choice, with Ruth Guerri providing excellent memories.
1984: While my avatar belies my opinion, Liz Stewart was the true unforgettable babe of the year, I think because Justine Greiner departed the scene too quickly. This year was packed, however, Roberta Vasquez, Debi Johnson, Kim Evenson, Tricia Lange...Hefner may have actually picked the worst model of the year as PMOY.
1985: Pam Saunders was the most memorable PM that year, though Kathy Shower wasn't a bad choice, with Cindy Brooks, Devin DeVasquez, & Hope Carlton adding to another great year during PB's Golden Era.
1986: Ava Fabian was just the sweetest babe, in another amazing year, including Katherine Hushaw, Christine Richters, Lynne Austin, & Julie McCullough, punctuating a year where, again, Hefner may have picked the worst model of the year as PMOY.
1987: Marina Baker may have been PB's greatest model in what I think was PB's greatest year, including a six-month run of Luann Lee, Julie Peterson, Marina, Anna Clark, Kym Paige, & Sandy Greenberg, my second choice. Brandi Brandt & India Allen brought the year to an unforgettable end, though I have to say that the India PMOY video was PB's best work, so that choice may have worked out after all.
1988: Diana Lee-Hsu, as another of my top favorites, would have been another excellent symbolic, articulate, erotic choice for PMOY, though this was another awesome year (really the end of the Golden Era, IMHO), with Susie Owens & Emily Arth being a couple other standout models.
1989: Erika Eleniak seemed to have been the obvious choice, with Laurie Wood, Jennifer Jackson (would have been a disaster PMOY), & Karen Foster (a problem pick, as she was one of the first of the stripper PM's) being personal favorites.
1990: Lisa Matthews was probably the best choice in one of the few good years in the 90's, with Peggy McIntaggart, Bonnie Marino, Jacqueline Sheen, & Brittany York/Alison Armitage filling out a bumpy year (not a Pam Anderson fan).
1991: Wendy Kaye was the most memorable PM, with Corinna Harney being a close second in another good year, that included Christina Leardini, Carrie Yazel, and Saskia Linssen as part of that incredible five-month run, and Tonja Christensen, and Wendy Hamilton.
1992: Cady Cantrell was the standout that year, though Barbara Moore was one of the most erotic PM's ever. Tylyn John & Amanda Hope were a couple other favorites of mine.
1993: The first really slow year, with Jenny McCarthy probably being the correct decision, by default.
1994: An even worse year, Donna Perry over Maria Checa, I guess?
1995: Two words: No Winner.
1996: My list ends here, as Gillian Bonner was the last PM to really make an impression on me until Britt Linn came along, almost 18 years, literally a Lost Generation, later.
