Where my Nephew stays the internet has been down for 8 days and counting.

Schools go back tomorrow and the teachers will have to make the kids understand what life is like without the internet

Would you believe even the cash machines have not worked there for the past 4 days.

Sorry for the shouting. But I just wanted to express my concerns.

BTW Because this was the New Year/Holiday Break. My nephew told me he had to drive 20 miles round trip to a cash machine.

He was glad he had a 4 x 4.

Last spring I went out to northern Montana and on the way back kind of lollygagged by visiting several places I'd never been.

Was out in the middle of absolute nowhere (the Badlands) and needed gas so stopped in this little place where the guy just couldn't stop talking (I guess he rarely ever saw anybody). Was figuring on having to pay in cash but saw the little Visa/Mastercard sign. Was kind of confused and asked how in the world this guy had broadband way the heck out here. IIRC, he said that if you have a business and need credit card access the companies will make sure you get it.

Still don't know what to make of it. But the guy had broadband (he said it was his only entertainment). And I swear, the nearest itty bitty small town was at least 40 to 50 miles away.

Two packages of ramen and two colas almost caused a guy's stomach to burst?

Does not appear to be a joke article. I wonder how tiny this guy is?

For want of a nail the battle was lost .....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_Want_of_a_Nail

http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/ne...cket-1-7651968

This week for want of a £2 nail a tempting £38 million was lost

The spokeswoman added; “Only tickets that have been successfully purchased can be entered into the draw."
“So it is up to players to ensure that they have adequate funds in their account to complete a ticket purchase.”

That seems reasonable to me, personally I walk to the shops and pay cash to make sure I have the tickets

Lottery fever

Looks like they want to invest some money into their website as this is happening on a very regular basis with all the current rollovers and as they have fixed the draw by adding 10 extra numbers rollovers will be more frequent.

It could be you ..... just wait a few days whilst we sort our computers out

Lottery or 'the stupid tax' as those that don't play it call it.

The chance of winning the jackpot, which was one in 14 million, became one in 45 million when the extra ten balls were added. And the price a ticket doubled to £2!

Stupid, gullible people have got enough on their plates just trying to open doors and use cutlery. They don’t need tawdry dream-vendors putting them under the additional pressure of having to spend twice as much cash on what is almost certanly not a ticket to their dreams.

If you want to gamble have a bet on sport, at least you'll get a reasonable run for your money and a bit of entertainment in the process.

It's also really an extremely regessive form of taxation lots of poor people giving their money to a few very rich people. The decision to fund activities like art, sport and heritage was taken for good reasons, but these tend to be the interests and activities of the relatively comfortable rather than, say, health or education which concern everyone.

Bang on the money, there Vince, quite agree.
Last nights £50m jackpot for example, they could reduce the odds & make 50 people millionaires, or even 100 people £500k winners, rather than 1 person `blowing their brains out` with £50m, or is that being too socialist of me ? Spread the love, or cash, or whatever?
