I think that is an unanswerable question. There are so many great ones out there past and present it would be hard to pick. Plus then you get in to genres and styles.

I fully agree, that's like who is the best guitarist, drummer etc. Too many different genres!

Judith is fab - very pure voice. I'm a huge fan of Sandy Denny - but there are many others in all sorts of genres.

I'm not keen on singers like Whitney or Mariah Carey et al - too many melismas (twiddly bits).

But the one I really don't get is Bjork.

Horrid scratchy voice with no sonority to it. Each to his own!
