Something's not right. This is supposed to be summer , yet I'm cold. All that wonderful hot , dry weather is bottled up where sandhunter lives in the desert southwest and where Rubinski lives in Colorado. It's as if Chicago is sitting on an iceberg!

I've been trying to lose weight all week because this Sunday afternoon is my building's annual garden party that start's around 2 p.m. There will be plenty of different kinds of salads, snacks(corn chips, potato chips, etc), a big wash basin filled with icy water and bottles and cans of different beers, a liquor table with bottles of wines, and spirits. There are also two giant gas grilles which will be cooking chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, Polish sausage, Italian sausage and finally a huge dessert tray with pieces of pie, cakes, donuts, and assorted pastry, cookies and cupcakes. I just hope enough people show up. My building has 154 people living there, but usually fewer than 50 come to the party. Last year only 30 residents showed up, and this year a lot of long time residents moved out, or died, or went to nursing homes, or left the state and a lot of new people took their place.
