Actually, that is not true. I rather like gentrification and reducing the amount of violent crime in my city. The homeless thing is temporary. Eventually they will be rounded up and dumped in the suburbs as is done elsewhere. The police will beat them up and haul them back out when they try to return. That way all the folks that are employable don't have to live with the excrement and garbage plague we now have.

It may seem selfish and hypocritical, but African Americans ran this city for 40 years and ran it into the ground with corruption and crime. It is amazing. Get rid of the violent blacks and embezzlers, jobs return, taxes rise, schools and services improve and you get a nice city again. I am getting old and want cleanliness, safety, and to be free of a bunch of beggars who seem to think I owe them something just because I'm white.

We've seen a lot of silliness in this thread.. most of it a sad commentary on societal evolution.

Today's lot is from my former official "favorite place in the world": Palm Springs, California.

Many times people are called 'racist' for the wrong reasons.. but today, it applies to nature. I give you-- racist trees.

Due to demands from neighbors, the city of Palm Springs will spend $169,000 removing 'racist' trees (and a chain link fence) blocking a historically African-American neighborhood's view of a city-owned golf course. Many longtime residents of the neighborhood previously told the Desert Sun (the local paper) they believed the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s, and remain a lasting remnant of the history of segregation in the city. Residents said the trees, which block views of the Tahquitz Creek Golf Course, have artificially depressed property values and prevented black families from accumulating wealth in their property over the past half century.

So the city is going to cave to this demand.. but the residents making these demands weren't done. After the trees and fence are taken down, the residents also demand: building a 6-foot privacy wall for residents who want it; installing netting or something similar to prevent errant golf balls from flying into residents' yards; and planting new trees similar to those seen along other parts of the course. No word on the cost of this set of demands.



So.. they want to tear down mature trees and a fence so they can build a new fence, add netting, and plant new trees... all because the existing trees are racist.

I would say "only in California", but I fear that's no longer the case. You couldn't make this shit up.
