Well having put a 'front-line spinner' in the squad for the 2nd test, he has now been removed from the squad for the 3rd.
So there is still no fully recognised spinner in the team and more danger that the quicks will be over-worked since Cptn Cook only uses Moeen sparingly. In fact the only change is an enforced one since Prior did the decent thing. |

I heard on the grape-vine that after the test, having a few hours to spare, the team, for a little inspiration, put "The Happy Hooker" dvd on to play. It may not be about cricket but she def knew how to score.

The unique feature of this match is that a test match has never before started on a Sunday in England. I read that Hampshire are having difficulties selling tickets for this match. 75% have been sold for the first day, but thereafter they are really struggling. Also, there are plenty of unsold tickets for the fourth test at Old Trafford. Supporters voting with their wallets?

Pity about that at Hampshire. I'd love to go there.
I'll be at the OT Test (weather permitting) just not sure yet which day to go.( Waiting for a couple of other members to agree) Great chance for Butler. I really hope he looks as comfortable as he does for Lancs.

It seems to be (and is) a long time (almost a year) that one could congratulate England for winning a Test Match.
For once they played as a team - the bowlers did not let down the batsmen nor did the batsmen let down the bowlers. Cook will sleep easier tonight. But he can ill afford to become complacent. One good match can not cast aside all the bad ones (and the luck went with him as well). If he fails next time, the doubts will, once again, surface. |

A good result, especially for Cook who has even chipped in with some runs, as well as some adventurous captaincy, lets hope he does not retreat into his box at the next test and remember, one swallow does not a summer make.
Jimmy before the man tomorrow and if found guilty we could be without him for a while. Lets hope all goes well. |

Focus will obviously turn to Indian debutant Pankaj Singh who turned in the rather unimpressive match figures of 47-12-179-0 (3.81 runs per over), but our combo of Chris Jordan & Chris Woakes didn't fare much better at all, with combined match figures of 53-15-164-0 (3.09 runs per over).
I've been strongly in favour of Woakes getting a decent chance in the full England team, and I've been very impressed with what I've seen of Jordan, but we won this test match with only two pace bowlers and an Indian implosion against the part-time spin threat from Moeen Ali. .

England are expecting Anderson to be found guilty tomorrow and, apparently, have taken that scenario into consideration for the upcoming test at Old Trafford. All this is according to what Peter Moores said to the media after the victory at Southampton.
