A man enters the head branch of Citibank in New York City and wishes to see the branch director. "May I help you?" the banker asks the man. The man proceeds to ask if he could secure a a loan for five thousand dollars for two weeks. The banker asks if he has any collateral to back the loan. He answers no, but he has a Ferrari parked around the corner. The banker then gets his information and gives him the loan for the money. While the man is gone, the banker does some research on the man and finds that he is a multi - millionaire with holdings in newspapers, railroads, oil companies and timber. The man greets the banker after two weeks and is ready to pay his loan. After pleasantries, the banker tells the man that the loan is five thousand dollars and the interest on the loan is fifteen dollars and eighty - seven cents. After receiving the receipt for the loan the banker asked the man if he could ask a personal question. "Forgive me, but may I ask you something? When we give a loan, we research the person's background to see if the person is financially sound. I checked your background and you are director of many industries. This loan seems insignificant. Why would you need this small amount?" "Yes, it is insignificant compared to my holdings," said the man, "but where in New York City can you park your car for two weeks at fifteen dollars and eighty - seven cents?"
