I'd rather see a well fought game. The trouble with massacres is that they don't do anything for the game. The losing side are not helped to improve and for the winning side it's a glorified training session. These new bonus points don't help either.

When one team is dominant there is usually a more open game. We see rugby skills at their highest level. Often there is skillful back play with players playing without fear of making mistakes. |

I'd disagree with that. That would be a dull game rather than a hard-fought one. Both teams attacking, varying their play to try to find a way through, stubborn defence, tactical kicking... it can all add up to enthralling stuff even if there is very little scoring. The England-Wales game of a couple of weeks ago was thrilling even though defences held out for most of the time. The ferocity of the tackling right up to the end was thrilling in itself.

I don't particularly like "ferocious" tackling. I can understand the trend for high tackling to try to stop offloads but I would much rather see tackling round the legs.
I don't think high tackling is good for schoolboy rugby either and the authorities seem to agree. However I think the new rules are difficult to police and are being overlooked at times. "Players making contact with an opponent's head in "reckless tackles" will receive a yellow card at least in changes to rules over high tackles. Players will be punished even if the tackle starts below the shoulders. If head contact is accidental - for example, if a ball-carrier slips into a tackle - a penalty will be awarded." |

I will watch the England game behind the couch, its going to be embarrassing my heart bleeds for a great player like Parisse. What did we learn about Ireland putting 67pts on the board are they a better team than when they lost to Scotland was it good prep for France?I think not I would rather a hard fought game coming into todays battle .The Wales Scotland game will be a humdinger

I watched the U20 game on line, Scotland 34 Wales 65! Entertaining and well played, Scotland could have wilted at 20 points down, but the game opened up and was a demonstration of attacking Rugby and the will not to be crushed.
Good refereeing, few high tackles, scrum resets, no hand bags and a credit to the game. Oh yeah young Botham scored! Last edited by rupertramjet; March 2nd, 2017 at 07:23 PM.. |

What a victory for Scotland and they were missing 5 first choice players ....
France really up for this 6-0 to France so far, feeling nervous
