In the modern era always seems strange when someone young, fit and full of energy passes from heart issues. Far too young too be taken a truly sad day.

Due to his passing Spurs have postponed all academy fixtures as well as the Premier League 2 game against Manchester United on Monday.

God Bless

Default Computer pioneer Harry Huskey dies

Engineer Harry Huskey, who helped build many of the first ever computers, has died aged 101. Dr Huskey was a key member of the team that built the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (Eniac) which first ran in February 1946. Eniac is widely considered to be one of the first electronic, general purpose, programmable computers. Dr Huskey also helped complete work on the Ace - the Automatic Computing Engine - designed by Alan Turing. The Eniac was built at the University of Pennsylvania in the 1940s and, once complete, was more than 100ft (30m) long, weighed 30 tonnes, used 18,000 valves and 1,500 relays. Programming the massive machine to do different computational tasks involved rewiring its various units. Eniac was built to calculate the trajectory of shells for the US army. Dr Huskey became involved with the development effort to create Eniac soon after joining Pennsylvania to teach mathematics to Naval recruits. His task was to make the punched card reader for the machine work and to write technical manuals describing how to operate it. After the war, Dr Huskey travelled to the UK to help Alan Turing refine and complete the Ace. This was built at the National Physical Laboratory and in 1950, when it ran its first program, it was the fastest computer in the world. He also helped design and build two other machines - the Swac (Standards Western Automatic Computer) and the G-15 which, despite weighing almost a tonne. was known as a personal computer because it could be operated by one person. Dr Huskey spent his entire academic career involved with computing teaching at the University of California, Berkeley and was one of the founders of the computer science faculty at UC Santa Cruz. "Harry basically lived through and participated in the entire span of the history of electronic computing," Dag Spicer, a curator at the Computer History Museum, told the New York Times.

Default Cuba Gooding Sr found dead in LA

Cuba Gooding Sr, the lead singer of 70s soul group Main Ingredient and father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr, has died at the age of 72. The star was found dead in his car on Thursday in Woodland Hills, California, officials said. His body was slumped over the wheel of his Jaguar, but there was no suspicion of foul play. Anonymous sources told the LA Times that drug paraphernalia and alcohol containers were found in the car. Born in Harlem, New York, the star received his unusual forename from his father, Dudley MacDonald Gooding. "He told my mother that he would name his first born son Cuba because he once lived in Cuba and had positive feelings about the country," the musician told the North Dallas Gazette in 2015. He was encouraged to pursue a singing career by his family. "My mom and dad were determined that their first-born son would do something in the arts, if I had the talent," he recalled in a 2014 radio interview. "Being born in Harlem had its advantages if you wanted to be an entertainer because it was literally... the entertainment capital of the world. "I lived literally only eight blocks away from the Apollo Theater, and 19 blocks from Carnegie Hall. Although Carnegie Hall required a little bit more sneaking in the back." Growing up, he saw the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson play on his doorstep, and resolved to become a singer in his own right. The other members of Main Ingredient - Tony Sylvester, Luther Simmons Jr and Donald McPherson - were childhood friends, but Gooding Sr initially declined to join the group, having set his sights on a solo career. But, as the band started to achieve success, he helped out with backing vocals, and stepped up as the lead singer following the death of frontman Donald McPherson in 1971. Under Gooding's leadership, the band scored their first million-seller, Everybody Plays The Fool, which led to further hits, including Happiness Is Just Around the Bend and Just Don't Want to Be Lonely.

In 1972, they recorded an album, Afrodisiac, which featured several songs written or co-written by Stevie Wonder. But by 1977, Sylvester and Gooding Sr had both left the band. Gooding Sr signed with Motown Records and released two well-received, but commercially disappointing albums. He later re-joined Main Ingredient and worked with them through the 1980s. His son Cuba Gooding Jr is an Oscar-winning actor who appeared in films including Boyz 'N the Hood, A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire. The star had three other children with his wife Shirley Gooding: Omar and April, both of whom are also actors, and musician Tommy Gooding, who served as the musical director of his father's touring band.

Used to have the pleasure of watching Ugo in our defence at Villa Park. He was everything being said about him & more, a true gent & player who put himself on the line every match; back when players cared about the club they played for more than their flash cars & wages.

Met him in person a couple of times, giant of a man but truly a pleasure to chat with about football & music; his second love.

RIP Ugo.

RIP cyclist Michele Scarponi (age 37)

Scarponi died this morning during training, he was frontally it by a van.

He won the Giro in 2011 (after disqualification of Contador), and was one of the oldest currently active cyclists. 37 is old to be a pro cyclist but way too young to die.

Yesterday, I just watched him in my tv set with the Tour of the Alps. He won a stage and finished 4th in the GC.

I'm in shock. He was a nice rider and his most famous victory was the 2011 Giro d'italia after Contador was penalized.

RIP, Popeye!
