But is it proportionnal to the income or the global fortune?

Any idea?

In France it's similar as the German case that you reported.

It depends on your income. The authorities find out from the tax office how much you earned in the last year, and work out how much you earn per day. Then if they fine you 7 days' pay, you pay 7 times your daily earnings

The Germans have a similar system for criminal cases, but not for traffic offenses. The reason the Finns have that system is because if a rich man and a poor man had to go to prison, they'd both get the same sentence and would suffer the same. But if a poor man is fined say €100, it would hurt a lot, whereas a rich man wouldn't notice it, and that's why he has to pay more. I think that's real justice & fairness. The Finns are very fair people

Interesting, the pattern seems to be gray, no earth colors. This is actually quite a clever idea.

It helps to hide from others on board. For example, if you want to have an extra cookie from the galley, or if you want to enjoy the beautiful view from the bridge (in a sudden rage of manly romance) together with your (male or female) manly girlfriend, without the permanent nagging of the captain. Or if want to sleep where you are standing, or if you want to watch the sleep of somebody else (out of whatever pervert reasons

This certainly strengthens the morale of every lower rank, but will annoy commanding officers in the constant search for their staff. But since the commanding officers represent a minority I see no real problem here. It is democratic. All power to the little people. I believe Lenin said that, and he must know it. So....

That would be a good thing for the German Navy as well. The French are lucky, they are naturally gifted for hiding. The French Foreign Legion is hardly recognizable in the jungle.

I myself have never seen it. And I really look for them every time I search mushrooms in our little forest.

Unfortunately, we Germans are too stupid to hide. That is why we have to work so much.

Personally I think it's for the same reason the Police get up in all their Special Operations clobber. You never outgrow playing cops and robbers.

Considering the fact we are on porn board I think I was not way off course (see, maritime humour jumps in every now and then) reading the thread title "Why do Australian semen..."

Nature works in mysterious ways, and who knows that better than an Aussie. You never know what kind of life could develop on deck, and evolve and gain the mind of it's own. Or imagine a jungle pops out to existence in the middle of the ocean, surrounding the warship. Who would be the last to laugh then, I ask ya, ha?

Stranger things had happened. We are talking about Australia, after all.

Back to the original reading of the thread title. Arming even a sperm with all the necessary gear secures success. That's how a being that's on top of food chain in Australia does.
