There are a few things I don't understand:

- Why are other sections not closed for new uploads (except re-ups), like the MIR?
- Why is there no new sub-forum for this issue as Al Gebra and me suggested?
- Why is there no advise from the mods, how to help? There are some which don't have own post affected, but will help for sure.

To me configuring Imagevenue for posts larger that about 3 images is a pain so instead of doing http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...postcount=2154

I switched to Postimage.io for multi image posts (and hope they don't go tits up - this one connects to many social media sites so maybe they have a better business model than some others)

I don't know what I am going to do about re hosting thousands of posts - maybe just rehost recent ones???

Guys..... I have ongoing health issues and I cannot sit in front on my system for that long. Please let me know exactly where you want this subforum created and give me a name for it. Once I do that, we can take it from there as far as what threads you want in it. Just give me a little time to get it set up once I have all of the info.

The MIR mods are the only ones that requested that I close the section to new posts. I can only speak for Classic Movies but we have already have the posters using different pichosts for their new posts so no need to close the section for posting.


As far as the Mods helping, trust me they are. Most of the mods here have material to save themselves and none of us currently can recommend a single host that might be as good as Imagebam. There is uploading and testing going on with various hosts to see which ones might be acceptable and can deal with the volume. Others are bulk saving images using the program that Halvar wrote in their sections.

@Al. It makes no sense to merge this thread with the Imagebam thread in GD because this thread is intended for use for all imagehosts, not just Imagebam. Once we get a subforum set up, I will try to move relevant posts to that section.

Please have a little patience with us. It may not look like it, but as we are spread thin as things go on a normal day, things are extremely hectic here behind the scenes.

Taken into consideration, thanks. No one wants files to expire after a year.

I also just remembered (After making a test PAH thread)

OK. Is it perhaps worthwhile, though, adding to the public notice a comment suggesting folks edit their own existing posts with any re-ups, in preference to fresh posts simply for the purpose of re-ups? Just for now/this month, I mean. /shrug/ I'm thinking mainly in terms of mag. & model content threads.

We don't want to discourage posters/turn all the taps off, just to be sensible. Vef can be busy enough to keep up with on an ordinary day let alone a month's worth/floods of re-ups.

I'm a newbie at the site, but I think this could be a good place fro the Sub-Forum: Information & Help Forum
But maybe others have better suggestions.

Maybe we need a few more/others, but the Sub-Forum would be the place to have an overview and to structurize the saving.

Following threads, we need at first place (imho):

1. General Discussion

A lot of posts in the now existing threads are nice to read, but it's hard to keep track of the really relevant posts (like halvar's). Therefore this discussion should be in a seperate thread.

2. Technical solutions for downloading

This thread should have no discussion, but only single posts at the top about the solutions we have, with a short explanation how it works:

4. Alternative hosts

This thread should have no discussion also, but only listing the hosts wich are out there, naming the characteristics of them.

Discussion and testing this hosts should be done in single threads for each host in the test-forum. The result of the tests should then be posted into "Alternative hosts"-thread.

5. Organization of saving posts (of inactive members/or by thread)

This could be done in two alternive ways (mods decision):
a) a table with member-names, which posts should be saved
b) a table with threads, which should be saved

On top of the thread is the table.
- Members posting in following, which thread/member-posts they want to save.
- when a member posts, that he save a thread/Members-posts, the table will be edited, that everybody knows, which tasks are still to do.
- when a member saved a thread/members-post, he post a notice, so that the table will be edited, and this task marked as done.


Quoting my old post:

a list of inactive members[/B] (deceased/retired/banned/blocked/long time inactive) as first post, where everybody, who have spare time, can jump in and choose one of them to save the posts of this members, or gets an advise by the mods which one he should save.
To avoid that saving of this posts is done by two members at the same time, it should be set a note in the first post, which member saves which posts.
And a note, when the saving is done, eg.:


Alternative to that it could be organized not by inactive members, but by threads.

(I don't know if it is possible to set up such a list, because there are quite a lot of threads/inactive-members at the board. I think this table can't be set up manually. But that's something you know better.)

If you think organization by saving by threads is better, maybe this thread could be splitted into the various sections/subsections of the forum (Modern/Classic/Vintage/Mir)


6. Organization of saving posts (of active members)

I don't know if active members with a lot of stuff out there want to have it.
But maybe they can create threads, where they make a table as above, where they can organize the saving as mentioned above in point 5.

Once I do that, we can take it from there as far as what threads you want in it. Just give me a little time to get it set up once I have all of the info.

Hope the info is sufficient. But maybe others will jump in with better suggestions or addendums.

I was not asking because of different pixhosts, but every new post has to be monitored by the mods. So this takes time away from the main task.

I'm fully aware of that and I appreciate that a lot. But I'm not thinking about help per PM, which is time cosuming for all, but I'm thinking about a general advice, posted in the new subforum.

Fortunately, I guess, I started having trouble with Imgbox, a while back and started using the; Image Uploader (Multiple images upload): “Browse“ button at the bottom of the “Reply to Thread” which is PimpAndHost. I was under the impression that it was the host preferred / recommended, by Vintage Erotica Forums, is it ok to use it?
It works well, to post images and is working good to re-upload images that I have posted with imgbox. I am confused that it seems to be the default image host, but from what I have read here, no one seems to recommend it.?.?,`. I haven't read all the recent post so I could have missed it.
I originally used Imagevenue but for some reason I went to Imgbox, I think it was because it seem to drop images over time, and I was under the impression that Imgboxdidn’t drop as many, which may not have been the case, it seemed to drop quite a few. Also it was easier to access my galleries.
I didn’t use Imagebam because when I first joined VEF I was using Dial up and could not open a lot of the Imagebam images they would download part way then stop, and if saved, it just had a partial image. Even with the Satellite, sometimes it was hard to get the larger ones.

Pimp & Host and a former forum owner had business relationship, it seems that this is still the case. That's why P&H seem to be "the default image host". But it is banned in several countries and very uncomfortable if you want to download big image posts. Many members use P&H simply because it is easy to use for uploading.
