I bought the "Jimmy Carter" edtion of Playboy when I was in high school. Patti McGuire was the playmate and I almost died of joy when I saw that picture. She was also very pretty and had a terrific figure all around, but that picture is forever ingrained in my brain.

Patti had some excellent rear-view shots as I recall from my high school years. Wait, those views are still quite fine. I would only need access to the real thing about once a week so I wouldn't be wasting her time, say, every Thursday.

Since this thread mentions Dalene Kurtis as the first fully-shaved PM, I'm relating my visit to her PMOY luncheon at the PB Mansion in April 2002.

The back lawn of the Mansion was set up as for most parties there--giant tent covering the area, open bar, great buffet. Small stage at the far end, round tables filling the area, Hef's table at the front. (we were lucky enough to snag the table behind Hef's, so we had a great view of the proceedings).

Pictures from the PMOY pictorial were blown up and displayed across the back wall behind the stage. These pictures flanked the lectern where Hef, emcee Garry Marshall, and of course Dalene made their remarks. (below is a stock photo--not Dalene's luncheon)

But since Dalene was shaved, most of her pictures were, for lack of a better word, "more naked" than usual.




So here's the kicker: her parents were seated at one of the tables (I talked to them briefly). They seemed to be comfortable being there, despite the giant pictures of their daughter. I guess they wouldn't have accepted if they weren't.

One other tidbit: I also spoke with her boyfriend (nice guy), and later remarked to my friend that he wouldn't be her bf for long, now that she was PMOY. Within a year Dalene was dating an NFL quarterback.

In any event, I had a great time, and was thrilled to be there, needless to say. Chatted with several of my PM friends, but the highlight was when I spoke to Miriam Gonzalez. I said quietly in her ear that several of us thought *she* should have been PMOY. And she blushed!

Just reading through this thread and it is hard for me to believe that Playboy removed pubic hair back in 70s/80s or early 90s for aesthetic reasons. Back then, pubic hair was expected as part of being a woman. Lots of Playmates had massive untouched bush (Crystal Smith, Sandy Johnson etc). It was basically a freedom celebration as pin-up models in 50/60s often shaved since pubic hair photos were prosecutable. Playboy definitely retouched/removed pubes during those times as we all know. The 70s and 80s were let it all "hang out". I could see them adding dark areas to photos to stop lower lip exposure. Plenty of cases of that have been documented. Someone mentioned Marianne Gravatte - certainly of one hairiest bushes in Playboy. Why would they remove her bush when there are tons of other shots closeup showing its huge size? I think the reader is forgetting that lights, angle, moisture and timing all play of part of these final bush photos. In this pic, she is wet and her black muff is puffed up so we can really see true size. In other pics, it is probably dry and laying flatter. Not saying it did not happen where they touched up pube pics but not the norm at all. I think this picture of Hope is great example of light, angle, moisture and timing. She was wet and probably toweled off her bush before laying down. It is a beautiful shot, but she was not super hairy in her other photos so they were just sticking straight up.. Probably some genetics at play too. She is probably Norwegian background so her blonde bush does not curl as much as to say, southern Italian girls where it gets dark, super dense and curly when water hits it.



Also, if there was a time where Pl&yb&y removed pubes, it was late 90s to 2016. Look at Cheryl Bachman's bush in this thread. In early 90s, she had long strands of pubic hair hanging down between her legs. When pic was republished for '2014 90s Playmates edition', they removed it all. That is why Playboy went downhill IMHO. Readers were never looking for perfection nor same old type of girl. Variety went away and older readers who liked natural girls were shoved to side. Freakin' millenials idiots could not 'bear to see hair.' Check it out.
