Default the Real Deal

I'm a big fan of Kim Deal. Her work with both the Pixies and the band she has with her twin sister Kelly, that band being the Breeders. A name given to them by the patrons of gay clubs that they played in beginning.

Even though I do prefer blondes, I've grown very fond of Kim, both for that voice and that bone structure. (Reminds me of a hot friend)

Where is my mind? = from the pixies. Kim supplies the haunting backing vocal.
One Pixies DVD menu has this vocal intro on a loop.
Sometimes I let it play for hours.

Hey Inglorious Kim's another bassist, just like Johnette.
I also remember the Falling Joys. Particularly "Lock It". Big single here.
Lovely fretless bass.

I like this detour from football mvasilj; too many to mention. Off the top of me head - Chrissie Hynde & the late Kirsty MacColl.

Anyhow
Serena Ryder, fell in love with her voice and looks, especially after singing "Racing In The Street" , kind of reminded me of Suzi Quotro.

(not on youtube) Sandy Denny singing Bruton Town, a traditional murder ballad. There's a live solo recording that has appeared on a couple of compilations where she perfectly conveys the tragedy of the final verse. Also one of her own songs Nothing more, which may or may not be about the writer of the next two songs ...

Linda Thomspson singing Dimming of the day or a heart needs a home. Two of the most beautiful songs in the English language, IMO.

Finally, someone a bit less obscure that more than half a dozen people might have heard of - Kate Bush singing This woman's work. No explanation required, it simply pierces the soul.

You beat me to it Blondifan! Kim Deal from her time with The Breeders on the track below.

I always like Marcy Levy singing back-up for Eric Clapton on his mid 70's albums. Not my favorite Clapton albums but I do love her voice.

But all my time favorite is still Emmylou Harris.

I loved her early music with Gram Parsons.

And her most recent albums like Wrecking Ball

And she is still hot.

Did Sandy Denny (of Fairport Convention) cover this Pentangle song?
Ironically I just finished making a Fairport compilation around "Lieg & Lief".
Beautiful voice, sadly missed!
