Not unless you are way out in the sticks. EVERY major and minor city and small town in the US these days is going to have sidewalks, as well as most if not all of the developments and suburbs. Interestingly enough in the development that I grew up in there are only two streets that DON'T have sidewalks and I lived on one of them. I've never figured out just how that came to be, if all the other streets were built and developed and when it came time to do ours they said for whatever reason, 'eh, just skip the sidewalks.'

They must have known you lived there
I have lived on my street for over 28 years and it still has no sidewalks. As a matter of fact several years ago the city deeded back the frontage for them.

It's the weirdest thing, because EVERY other development in the city and nearby area has sidewalks on EVERY street---except for the two streets in my development. What was odd was that on those two streets we'd walk on the street, usually on one or the other side, but when we got to the streets with sidewalks we'd walk on them.

I live out in the country so of coarse no sidewalks but everywhere I go there's plenty of handicap parking spots. That's not even good enough for them now, they have to park in the fire lane right in front of the door. Most of them when they get out look to be in a hell of a lot better shape than I am.

Thumbs up

We didn't even have a black and white TV when we lived in Italy.

There was a communal TV in the lobby of our apartment building and you watched whatever everyone else was watching and back then, there were only 2 Italian government ran RAI channels on that TV.

When we were kids growing up in Italy, we spent a lot of time outside playing.

We didn't care what was on TV or what we would miss out on.

I do vaguely remember sitting in front of the communal TV with Dad and Mom and all the other residents and also the doorman of the apartment building and they were watching the Apollo 11 moon landing and my brother and I were making a lot of noise and not sitting still and running around and Dad told us to better sit down and be quiet or else.

Do any of you remember the 2 and 4 party telephones were you had to wait for your neighbor to get off the line to make a phone call and you could also listen in to their conversations. If you had a raunchy neighbor it made for some interesting listening.

yep our first phone line was a party. it took about 12 months to get our own line. This was back in the 60's. Also when I was luck enough to build a villa on Tenerife it took nearly two years to get a phone line installed. That walk down the hill to ring home in complete darkness

Yep, we had a two-party line for awhile when I was younger, and an old fashioned rotary phone on the wall. I still remember that cool clicking birring sound it made.

The neighbor lady whom we shared the line with like to call people up and gossip, so it was not uncommon to pick up the phone and interrupt one of her conversations. Stealthily listening in was really not possible, because there was a loud click whenever another party on the line picked up the phone.
