And meanwhile Gunmen have attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christian worshippers in central Egypt, killing at least 28 people and wounding 25 others, officials say.

The bus was travelling to the Monastery of St Samuel the Confessor, 135km (85 miles) south of Cairo, from Minya province when it came under fire.

No group immediately said it was behind the attack.

But Daesh militants have targeted Copts several times in recent months, and vowed to do so again.

The bus was in a small convoy that was stopped on a desert road near Adwa police station on the border between Minya and Beni Suef provinces.

Between eight and 10 gunmen wearing military uniforms attacked the convoy, officials cited witnesses as saying. The gunmen then fired at the vehicles with automatic weapons before fleeing in three 4x4 vehicles, they added.

Minya Province Bishop Makarios said many of the victims were shot at point blank range, the New York Times reported.

He said that children had been on the bus and were among the dead, adding that a pick-up truck in the convoy carrying workmen at the monastery was also targeted.

I understand Egyptian forces have launched a strike against "terrorist training camps" in retaliation for the attack.

@savage560, The "Dark Ages" in Europe were from the end of the Roman empire and are called the "Dark Ages" 'cos we ain't got that much information about all sorts of things. As far as I'm aware, the end of the roman empire was around 460 AD, and islam formed in the 600's.

The coming weekend will be full of public events in the UK and it remains possible that a few more bombs are out there, along with lunatics willing to use them.

I really wonder how many Muslims living in the UK understand just how much damage has been done to the image of their religion and culture by the senseless Arena Bombing and how the British public - let alone the State will respond to a second vicious attack?

I think many of them just don't get it, they show remorse when asked in person or on TV but their religion is so warped that many think that disapproving of even the most vile scum who share their religion is anti-Islam.

The British public's response has been excellent despite what some PC idiots at Manchester Police force may believe
Manchester attack: Hate crime 'doubles' after incident
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ester-40064424

That's 56 "hate crimes" of vicious intensity like name calling and graffiti

There are many stories of what the British people in Manchester did that night to try and help those affected by this atrocity.

Given the barbaric nature of this particular incident and the targets this shithead and his evil co-plotters chose to attack is it any surprise that it may have turned a few others totally against all Muslims? I think it is perfectly understandable.

I wonder what action Plod is currently taking anywhere regarding the hatred being taught inside Islamic schools? I suspect it's pretty close to nothing.

Islam does not share this basic value and will only accept their way. This will lead to mass murder as we are now seeing in Europe. This will continue until there is full civil war or capitulation to Islam.

For some reason this is what European leaders want.

Why?
The European leaders don't really want this, but are trying to counteract the declining birthrates that have severe worker shortages looming for their economies. Unfortunately, the closest geographical source of labor brought Islam with it. A little more imagination will bring the realization that China and India would only be too happy to export some of their surplus unskilled and poorly educated labor. Chinese and Indian immigrants would presumably be far more appreciative of the opportunities and less likely to bite the hand that feeds them.

The sooner the West develops alternative sources of energy, the sooner a bomb making Mecca radioactive for 10,000 years becomes doable. Or perhaps, you would prefer strains of plague which we could inoculate our populations against. Islam must either adapt to Western values or, sooner or later face reprisals. Their oil is the only thing that has them tolerated at present.

It is a shame, most Muslims are peaceful. But continuing to harbor murderous thugs will bring reprisals on the whole communities. The forced removal of the "five civilized tribes" of Native Americans from the southeastern portion of the United States and Washington's genocidal campaigns against the Iroquois have been widely condemned. What is ignored is that the tribes had been unable to stop their young warriors from attacking settlements at the behest of the British and Spanish. All the native tribes would suffer the consequences of those failures.

Default Terror threat reduced from critical

The UK terrorism threat level has been reduced from critical to severe, Prime Minister Theresa May has said.

The change indicates an attack is highly likely, not imminently expected.

Soldiers deployed to support the police will be stood down on Monday night, at the close of the bank holiday weekend.

Earlier on Saturday, police evacuated an area of Moss Side in Manchester, in a search linked to Monday's bomb attack at the Manchester Arena.

From CNN: Daesh has claimed responsibility for Friday's massacre of at least 29 people on buses in Egypt, a terror monitoring group says.

So I take it that means we'll be importing a load more medieval arsewipes in from the desert without bothering to check them out first then?

As if there weren't enough of those already running around the country as it is!

What I constantly find amusing is this notion of Islam being a religion of peace.

From all I have read it's been nothing more than 1400 years or bloodshed. Forcible conversions or mass murder. Toppling other religions places of worship and relegating those of other religious persuasions as seen with the Copts today in Egypt, Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan to servile roles as second class citizens.

The Crusades are often brought up as an example of Christian wickedness (although they attacked other Christians especially those of the Orthodox/ Syriac faith) and indeed Christianity has been a bloody religion too. Sectarian violence between Protestant and Catholic, the killings of so called heretics (Cathars, Lollards etc, etc) the attempt to suppress the Enlightenment and science and indeed there have been concerted attempts to destroy Jews, Muslims and turn pagans wherever they were into Christians. All organized by very often corrupt clerical organizations.

Nonetheless over the last four centuries we have seen the divorce of state an religion in the West, the relegation of Christianity in favour of scientific progress and rationality and the decline of aggressive conversion and sectarianism.

None of which can be applied to Islam. Aside from a very few periods in it's history such as Moorish Spain, tolerance has been a word that is rare in that religions lexicon. Islamic crusades toppled Persia and swept into India in an orgy of violence.

Why has this occurred ? The aim of this particular religion has been all throughout it's existence to propagate itself across the world and until this is achieved it will not rest.

People say most Muslims are tolerant. That is certainly true for a small minority (and usually the better educated) but their actions when in a majority speak differently. The outrage of cartoons in Denmark, from Charlie Hebdo, the publication of The Satanic Verses reveals an intolerant , insecure religion. The reaction after 9/11 on the BBC debates showed something similar. Or indeed on Question Time when a Muslim woman denied anything nasty was said about the West at Didsbury Mosque.

When Richard Dawkins asked a Muslim professor if Islam was a religion of peace the professor duly replied indeed it was. So Dawkins asked what would you do to an apostate ? (several of whom have had to receive police protection due to threats from their families) There was no answer.

Or indeed when the late lamented Christopher Hitchens dismantled a seemingly friendly head of an Islamic charity for example with regards to the fact that papers in Islamic countries regularly mock other religions but are very thin skinned when it comes to the reverse.

Being an atheist I find it very worrying that if I were to go to Saudi Arabia or indeed Bangladesh and formulated my opinion that it's all a load of hocus pocus I could well be killed as a result.

Do we want this medieval way of thinking in the twenty first century ? I find it worrying the ambivalence of many Muslims living in the West. Content to enjoy the fruits of the Enlightenment while at the same time ignoring the abuses that go on in Islamic countries such as the treatment of women.

They seem to constantly harp on about persecution while content for the most part not to assimilate (one prime example being Muslim RAF personnel refusing to serve in Iraq) and reinforcing separation as Wendigo mentions through the importing of hardline preachers sponsored by Saudi Arabia.

It is interesting to see how the Hindu and Sikh communities have integrated and been a success both academically and economically in Canada, the US and Britain. That they have extraordinarily low rates of criminal behaviour (barring the friction between Sikh extremists demanding a homeland in India) and certainly with the Sikh community have been very proud members of those countries Armed Forces indeed senior administration.

The root cause for me is the world view of the religion and it's followers. A reticence to be part of the wider community and constantly entrenching the separation with demands to be seen as something special. Western Europe is facing a chasm over the next few decades.

Whether to retain the progress of the last few centuries or drift back to religious intolerance and backward ways of thinking.
