I second that. Just looked up Rommel on wikipedia, and came across this image, here:

Look at the guy on the right hand side of that photograph, in profile, and compare it with the hat worn by the bare-chested guy on the extreme right-hand side of the original picture. I think there's a comparison.

Additionally, the woman on her back seems to be lying on a similar uniform to what the men are wearing. I wonder, were there female soldiers serving alongside him during his North African campaigns. I don't really know, because I'm not a historian. Maybe someone else can clear this up?

These pictures are from my late father's collection which I posted at another board. I can assure you that they are genuine WWII photos taken in the locations which the OP here has indicated. My father was a photo technician with the Army Air Corps who mainly processed bomb damage photos. He also flew as a photographer on a number of bombing missions. I think he processed private photos for his buddies and kept copies. He also photographed a lot of Africa and Europe as well as an extensive collection of the artwork on bomber noses.
