It's good that the killer has been removed from circulation, but I personally like to see such scum as this taken alive and humiliated by being displayed for the contempt of all the world. One thinks, for example, of the neo-nazi low life, David Copeland, and his one man terrorist bombing campaign, which he thought would serve to trigger off a race war in Britain. Also the two blood soaked and lower-than-human murderers of Private Lee Rigby, who have justly been condemned to rot in a British prison for until long after the people they wanted to impress as glorious martyrs have forgotten that they even existed. They tried hard to get themselves shot by the Metropolitan Police, whose actions in taking them alive against their wishes I consider to be extremely professional, brave and commendable. Taking this one alive would have been a real feather in the cap of the Danish police; but I intend no criticism of the fact that they shot him dead, far from it.

IIRC, the Postal Service is called for in the Constitution (one of the few thats actually specified). So I take it you'd prefer we get rid of the Constitution?

And as far as dams are concerned, would you prefer dams were owned by private concerns? Actually, this is an area I have some experience with.

Today, most dams are owned privately. And thats turning into a real problem. Why? Because all dams have a shelf life. And when they near the end of their useful existence, private owners usually declare bankruptcy and flee the scene. Leaving locals in the lurch for doing something about the potentially dangerous dam. And do remember, ALL dams have the potential to be exceedingly dangerous. In fact, bankruptcy and abandonment are pretty much the status quo for dam owners these days.

So I take it you think that is just fine?

And how about all these other dams that have burst recently? Who wound up paying for those? Remember who's paying for that situation in W. Virginia about a year ago? Let me give you a hint. Its not the company that owned the tanks. Its the state of W. Virginia and feds that are paying the bills for cleanup. The company declared bankruptcy and skipped town.

And you're OK with all this?

I'm not sure where to put this, but this seems the closest topic for it-

I'm going to be an UNCLE!

My younger brother has been seeing a rather nice girl since last summer, and yesterday afternoon they came round and both told us the good news.
I must say it was a bit of a surprise, but they themselves have said they were completely unprepared for it.

She herself has a wonderful little 2 year old girl from a previous relationship (and she is so sweet! ,) but this will be their first child together, so needless to say it's going to be quite an adventure for them.

It'll be due about September.

To quote from Life of Brian "you lucky, lucky bastard!" I wish my sister had got her act together and made me an uncle as well. A 2yr old, well she will run you ragged mate but will love you forever - many young children remember their grandparents and uncles, aunts etc with affection for years to come. I wish you well.

Is anyone having trouble with their browser, namely Firefox, because it seems to be crashing with alarming regularity and despite all the latest updates and copious checks for viruses and other nasties it seems, at their end at least, to be doing it too often. I only moved to Firefox from IE9 because a) it was supposed to be updated for XP and b) it was a lot better than IE9.

Green I use Firefox 100% of time and while I have had issues when a lot of others are also right now it is working well. It is probably just YOU. It could be your server.

I've never been a big fan of constitutions. History tells us that they are very pragmatically used and interpreted. The men who wrote the US constitution believed that all men are free and equal, provided you had white skin. If you had black skin you had to be the property of a white man. Besides, you don't need a constitution to provide a postal service. China has no written constitution but has a pretty good postal service.
I pay taxes so that we can have motorways. I'm happy about this because without motorways I cannot have the things I need. I drive on a motorway to get to my job, so that I can holiday with my family and go on my trips to London. Without motorways I could not get fresh food at the supermarket or any of the other products I consider essential for my daily needs.
So like motorways, I'd be quite happy for the government to own dams. Dams, like motorways, provide me with the things I need. They provide fresh water and electricity which I consider basic necessities. Dams also help irrigate farmland so that they can produce food, another necessity. Some things I consider necessary, so I'm quite happy to pay taxes and for the government to own them so that people can have them.

Yeah oh mods of knowledge but I did a check and ran a virus and malware check and nothing was wrong nor found-it could just be one of those evenings. I will keep you informed.

I was rather surprised to hear that people have been demonstrating about Fifty Shades of Grey and how it degrades women and is the usual blah blah blah stuff you normally get from people with nothing better to do with their lives, but hang on said I, this was written by a WOMAN for WOMEN with the FEMALE perspective and it was directed by a WOMAN so how can it be degrading to women if it was written by one and the film was directed by one? On tonight's re-run of The Graham Norton Show only one man put his hand up when asked how many men had read the book. Oh, said Graham, you read it did you, and what did you think of it? (bearing in mind that the actor in the film of it, Jamie Dornan was a guest) The man said "I thought it was shite!" Half the women in the audience put their hands up to say they had read it. EL James must have been on to a winner, but critics mostly think what that man thought Let's see what it takes at the box office and who has the last laugh.

I thought you purchased a newer machine and weren't using XP anymore? OK, not using Firefox anymore as they've been updating practically every other day. So I've switched to Pale Moon (a derivative of Firefox). They update once every several months. Actually much prefer it but I'm not sure if they still support XP. Most companies have moved on. If you don't mind me asking, why are you still using that old OS? Could your machine handle Win 7? If you can afford it, it would be worthwhile upgrading. Just FYI, to run Win 7 you should have a dual core processor with 4 Gb RAM and probably a 300 Gb HD. Some of that is arguable.
