A financial analysts take on the Japanese quake.
While searching for something else I came across this clip of a financial analyst giving his view of the Japanese quake. He actually says "The human toll was greater than the financial toll for this we can be grateful." What the F$%K goes wrong in your life that hundreds of deaths and displacements mean less to you than the price of widgets? Just as puzzling is the lack of a response by his co-hosts. This guy represents everything that is wrong with stock markets, banks, insurance companies ...

Sorry to state the obvious(I don't post on the Football thread) but I am gutted, once again a penalty shoot-out eludes us and it wasn't for the lack of trying and thank god it wasn't Germany-one day, one bloody day we will do it. We had at least three shouts for penalties(John Terry was yanked down twice in the box) but in the end although they missed chance after chance, Italy I suppose deserved to win-Pirlo's penalty was sublime-what nerve that took. We can at least hold our heads up high and move on. I wonder if we need to play a more European game?

The Aussies are still masters of hype and pomposity.
The so-called greatest horse in the world, " Black Caviar", just managed to beat a few second and third rate European sprinters. Of course, the Aussies had their excuses ready after the race. "Jockey error" "she was not herself" ( Must have been a double ). She was supposed to stay and run again next month at Goodwood. Where she would have met a better class of European horses. However the owners have decided that it is better to beat donkeys in Aussieland and try and retain a little bit of a reputation, than stay in Europe. Greatest horse in the World. I think not. |

HELL NO!!
An 11-man defence backed up by glass ankles and Oscar-winning diving theatrics? If you want to be Platini or Blatter's b*tch then YOU go for it. The rest of us will carry on dreaming, jumpers for goalposts.......

The spirit of 1966 lives on and the next World Cup will be nearing the 50th anniversary of our sole triumph, of course we will still hope and dream, it's the English way

Perhaps I should have said 'WE' BB, of course that excludes N.Ireland Wales & Scotland, not being Great Britain football-as it will be in the Olympics-although I wonder how many from those countries will be in the squad-none from Scotland, unless they rebel against Salmond and his mob. The vast majority who use this thread are English but I am aware there are foreign members on here too-I may have been a little too jingoistic-my apologies for that.
I've just noticed my small top window is not closing properly(the sides have a gap) which suggests the frame may have dropped or bowed-damn more expense to get it fixed, along with a new curtain rail needed-the old one is the sliding type where curtain holders are fixed over the plastic rail-years old and should have been replaced twenty years ago. What was it that Ted Moult said about Everest Windows once "You only fit them once..." erm not if they lose their seals or the inner glass gets cracked for any reason Ted me old mucker!
