Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

As this magnificent place hurtles towards puberty, share your stories of what this site's meant to you, your memorable experiences, friends you've made and huge quantities of time you've wasted here. I joined in late 2007 as a back-up alternative to a smaller forum that had crashed. Two of my initial posts were promptly binned because I used an unapproved pic host, so I left in a huff and stayed away for months. But like a stray cat who knows where the good food is, I came back eventually...and stayed.
