I have always used kill traps for vermin, except for ground squirrels which I can not find a quick kill trap that works well, so they get One Bite. The glue traps are something I don't personally like nor use. If you trap them by glue and just toss them in the garbage like my tenants do the mouse just suffers until it dies from thirst or hunger or bleeds to death when it's feet are ripped from the body in it's struggles to get free. I believe if you are going to kill something do it as quickly as possible.
Just saying. |

I only used the glue traps once and when I observed the consequences of my success, I threw the rest of the pack away, unused. I rate them on a par with lacing flour and sugar with plaster of paris; not very nice, even by my standards.

IDK if this would work, but you might want to consider getting some sort of predator scent, i.e. the concentrated urine scent that trappers use and put a few drops here and there where you won't smell it, like down in the basement near suspicious nooks and crannies? I would think that the smell of the urine/musk of something that would enjoy eating them, i.e. a weasel or fox, might make the little mice nervous about hanging around. It's very strong stuff. I remember out in the country if you dripped a bit of this on an old sock and tossed it out in the yard for the cats to play with they would just go apeshit over it, rolling around in the smell and ripping the sock or rag to shreds while meowling in a most peculiar fashion.

I remember when I was about 8 years old, our neighbour rang at the door and asked to my mother if we could let our cat in her house in the way to hunt a mouse.
My mother and I went with our female cat and let it there. The mouse was caught and killed about one hour later. Female cats (and felines in general) are much efficient in hunting than males. |

I suppose there are some biological imperatives that explain this phenomenon, which I have also noticed. Perhaps male felines in general are supposed to spend most of their time marking territories with spray and fighting with other males to keep the gene pool tippy-top, while the females raise the kittens and do the grunt work, like catching food.

An unwanted guest that's welcome to stay
Spiders, I love spiders If you see a spider in your house, kill it, don't crush it , leave it in tact and just leave the bugger where he died, that serves warning to other spiders

I don't mind a spider in my house. Then again, i don't live in Australia where everything is out to kill you!
