Their insistence on enforcing the candidacy of Hillary Clinton in 2016 in the face of extremely clear signs of her remarkable unpopularity is the move which made Donald Trump's win happen. In 2020 Mr Trump will be the incumbent and it will not be so easy to beat him as it should have been in 2016.

Hillary Clinton was a dreadful candidate and the Democrats were a deplorable party (to borrow a phrase); corrupt, arrogant and the servant of vested interests. People expected better and made up their minds to reject this offer. Mark my words. Donald Trump will win in 2020 unless the Democrats can humble themselves and speak to ordinary voters as they have failed to do not only in 2016 but also in the time since then up until today.
I recently had occasion to look back at the Reagan presidency and Mr. Reagan's ties to organized crime dating back to his affiliation with the mob connected MCA and his presidency of the Screen Actors Guild. Of course, the same Sidney Korshak with his Chicago mob clients, Las Vegas casino clients, and ability to fix Hollywood labor problems also had relations with Jerry Brown's father Governor Pat Brown, Jerry, and California Democratic Governor Gray Davis. The Chicago mob had good relations with Joe Kennedy, the former bootlegger father of John, Robert, and Ted Kennedy.

Nixon, if you will remember was broke after his failed runs for president, then Governor of California, but found himself flush and bankrolled by among others, the Teamsters union and reputed mob connections in New York and Florida.

Arkansas politics is another cesspool that gave us Bill Clinton and Chicago gave us Barack Obama and his Wall Street banking financial backers. It really is not looking good for us little folk in the midst of all these behind the scenes buddy-buddy relationships.

Eisenhower warned us of the threat posed by military-industrial complex, but it seems that it was already too late to stop that juggernaut. Little did we know that organized crime, the unions and the big banks were all in it together. Certainly, there are many honest and dedicated people in government and corporations who do their best to make the world a better place, but it does seem as if the game is rigged and we are all pretty much in line for anal pounding.

I am not familiar with all the shady relationships you cite but they all seem believable. But this is the past. Citizens United now makes it possible for vast amounts of money to change hands legally, no more brown paper bags of cash exchanged in alleyways. It's a new world and as its parameters become better defined, you and I will be lucky to suffer no more than a brutal anal pounding.

I voted for Trump. I read this thread on a fairly regular basis and comment now and then. I take great joy at reading the body of work generated by those poor souls who are still butt hurt that HRC lost.

Britain and France joined the US in this attack? I guess they thought a united front was necessary. Wonder what Russia will do?

I don't even know if my butt hurt was so much over HRC losing, in that (even as someone who has always voted for democratic candidates) I had no particular belief that she would necessarily have made a great - or even good - president. I've never been a huge fan of either of the Clintons to begin with.

My butt hurt has to do more with having in Trump a man in the Oval Office who has consistently demonstrated throughout his life the type of character traits I don't want in my president.

Even putting aside the massive tax cut for the wealthy and the gutting of social services and environmental regulations that he advocates and has enacted, Trump time and time again shown himself to be vain to the utmost degree. The only sense I get of anything he actually loves is in having attention showered upon himself and making money. He has no use for anybody who isn't white and wealthy. He lies with both frequency and ease, to the point where whenever he speaks I can take nothing he says at face value: his word is meaningless.

The manner in which he swindled people under the false pretenses and promises of his 'Trump University' along with his long term practices of hiring foreign laborers and then failing to pay them indicate that this is man without a sense of honor. Couple that with his inability to treat any of his wives with decency and respect, you also have a man who doesn't value his marriage vows.

This type of man is not one who live up to the promises he made to those who voted for him: if he stiffs his vendors and contractors and cheats on his wives, what expectations can those who voted for him have?

It gives me no pleasure to see such a man elected President. Thin-skinned and self-pitying, prone to angry outbursts with a real persecution complex. It's amazing for a guy as rich as he is (I'm assuming he's worth several hundred million dollars at least, if not the 10 billion he claims) that Trump, despite his bravado and bluster, so clearly lacks self-confidence. And this is the man with his finger on the nuclear button.

Will you vote for him again though - assuming he isn't ousted for treason/money laundering/corruption/obstruction of justice?

Would you have voted for Trump had you known his campaign was under FBI investigation for colluding with Russia?

And did you vote for Trump or against Hillary?

It will be very interesting to see if there is proof of the meeting between Cohen and Russians in Prague. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...cid=spartanntp This would verify the collusion argument. No wonder Cohen is trying to stop prosecutors from seeing the privileged information - Trump will probably be bombing N Korea next to get the public's attention off this dumpster fire.

I can see those arteries hardening. Stroke Stroke Stroke

Bah daht de dah dump de dah de dah de dah dump - the inauguration parade of President Pence should start practicing.

The DoJ has stated that Cohen is now officially under criminal investigation.

I think there will be proof Cohen went to Prague to meet the Russians. Last year, he vociferously denied going to Prague at all - and produced his passport as 'proof' he'd never gone there (Look ma - no immigration stamps! ... Yeah, but the Czech Republic has an open border with Germany, where Cohen did travel to).

If he'd gone there for innocent reasons, he wouldn't have had to deny going there.

Methinks, he is f.u.c.k'd.

Always supposing that there is hard evidence that Mr Cohen did indeed travel to Prague, contrary to testimony he gave under oath.

In such a case as this, either the man takes the fall and remains silent in order to protect others, or else he plea-bargains and gives evidence which will lead to bigger fish. Or he experiences bad luck with his health.
