Has anyone noticed the idiotic hoo-ha surrounding the new female Doctor Who? It would appear that a lot of people have said, via social media, that the BBC have sold out to the PC brigade BUT I think this has been on the cards for years and someone decided to take the brave step now. What should happen is let Jodie do her episodes and then let people and tv critics make a judgment- you can't make sweeping statements about no more role models for boys etc when she hasn't even been seen yet. Look how those same social media fools reacted to 007 being blonde and the stupidity of a website being set up saying daniel craig isn't James Bond .com and yet h has been praised as this generation's best Bond even by a past one, the late Sir Roger Moore.

We Brits are blessed (so it would seem) with constant bouts of rainfall, so much so that to many of us the most important thing right now is the gender of a fictional TV character

Personally I think it's about time they reversed the polarity of his neutron drive

I'd love to know how well our reservoirs are however as they are split between so many providers the information was not easy to get a quick snapshot

Humans could become extinct if sperm counts in men continue to fall at current rates, a doctor has warned.

Researchers assessing the results of nearly 200 studies say sperm counts among men from North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, seem to have halved in less than 40 years.

Some experts are sceptical of the Human Reproduction Update findings.

But lead researcher Dr Hagai Levine said he was "very worried" about what might happen in the future.

The assessment, one of the largest ever undertaken, brings together the results of 185 studies between 1973 and 2011.

Dr Levine, an epidemiologist, told the BBC that if the trend continued humans would become extinct.

"If we will not change the ways that we are living and the environment and the chemicals that we are exposed to, I am very worried about what will happen in the future," he said.

"Eventually we may have a problem, and with reproduction in general, and it may be the extinction of the human species."

Scientists not involved in the study have praised the quality of the research but say that it may be premature to come to such a conclusion.

Dr Levine, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, found a 52.4% decline in sperm concentration, and a 59.3% decline in total sperm count in men from North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

The study also indicates the rate of decline among men living in these countries is continuing and possibly even increasing.

It is true that we have a lot of rain normally when we don't want it but when we do, since the dried riverbeds some have suffered so far this summer, it comes down hard and lasts for a few days. I really feel for countries that have terrible forest fires due to high temperatures and unable to get rain when they need it desperately. Perhaps if we hadn't upset Mother Nature in the past with our man-made lust for fossil fuels and deforestation and burning said fossil fuels too much this wouldn't happen so much. I notice on re-runs of Escape to the Country that many couples want houses with wood-burning stoves which is now known to be a cause of pollution...will we EVER learn.

It's not that long ago that the top brains were promoting diesel as cleaner for the environment

This is one mammoth goal as there are only 4000 or so stations with about 13000 charging points in the UK and rural areas are poorly served.

Minneapolis is fucked either way on this one. If they don't try and convict Noor the outrage will be high from the mainstream. Either way this is going to get ugly...
