Meaning he's playing himself. Don't you think Will Smith is getting megalomaniacal as of late?

After Earth is turning into the first colossal bomb of the summer. I'm hoping it will have a humbling effect on him. One critic said a good portion of Smith's roles involve him just affecting attitude, which is not acting. Too bad because his screen charisma is undeniable.

Perish the thought! Will Smith would never think that he is bigger than whatever film/tv/rap group he is in.

I have to fully agree. Too much of the movie is him looking stern, gruff, and commanding. Hell, Seagal can do that although with much less charisma (and a lot more belly).

I would be shocked if this movie made its budget back.

Personally, I think people would be better off watching the old movie After Hours.

Which I will be doing tomorrow.

The films loud daft and of it`s era but quite fun never the less.

Also co-stars a young Sam Rockwell.

Default Der Infiltrator (1995)

aka "The Infiltrator"

USA - Drama

"Yaron Svoray is a Jewish freelance reporter who goes to Germany to write an article about neonazism. While visiting a Turkish refugee camp a gang of skinheads attack. When the police arrive, he is mistakenly arrested which gives the skinheads the impression that he is a sympathiser for the Nazi cause. Yaron sees the opportunity and slowly infiltrates the group. He is appalled and disgusted by what he sees, but he's determined to dig deeper. Yaron discovers that the Nazism runs deeper and is more powerful than he ever could have imagined"

They say this is based on a true story, but little about it seems credible. In fact, the only reason I'm watching it is to see how a foreigner - who presumably doesn't speak much German - can "infiltrate" a gang of skinhead-Nazis and be trusted by them. They're nationalists, right? Ok, he doesn't tell them he's a Jew, that's easy to guess, but you know...

I also didn't know Germany had any "Turkish refugee camps". There are about 2.000.000 Turks in Germany, and they live normal lives. So who could be in the "camps" - Kurds, maybe?

IMDB gives it 6,5

He is pigeon-holing himself but I guess as long as the checks clear he's fine with it.

Raw Edge (1956)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049661/

Stoic gunslinger Rory Calhoun rides into 1842 Oregon bent on avenging his brother's murder. Yummy Yvonne De Carlo and Playmate Mara Corday add to the scenery of this routine and occasionally violent western.
