I also considered myself a big fan of hers. I collect classic movies and anything she is in that I come across is an automatic download and automatic keeper. She came across as real and at ease with herself and that's the most awesome thing in a performer - and it goes without saying she was very good looking, classy, and somebody you'd want to date, not just sleep with.

I usually don't like the results - could easily write a list of boob jobs that I wish had never happened - but her case was definitely an exception. Looked great!

My avatar is now a picture of Lauren taken about a year Ana a half ago. It's the most recent solo picture I have.
She was 50 in that picture. And just as beautiful as ever

Default Sorry for your lose

I always got the impression that Lauren was a pretty neat lady. Would have been cool to have a cup of coffee with her.

Really enjoyed her scene with Lauren Hall in Smooth and Easy.

Well, it took a week of emails back and forth, but the IAFD site now shows her correct information, including the date of her passing.
It always bugged her it was incorrect.
The least could do was get it fixed for her.

There ya go, my love.

Cleopatra of the Nile has passed away at the age of 43.

AVN Article

Quote:
Adult model Cleopatra of the Nile died Monday of heart failure while under care at UC Keck Medical Center. She was 43.

A native of Australia with Egyptian lineage, Cleopatra's widely varied pursuits included fetish modeling, webcamming, directing and editing, as well as jewelry making and mainstream acting. She held bachelor's degrees in both economics and business, and also minored in law. Well-liked among the industry community and a regular presence at adult events during her roughly 10 years in the business, she was inducted in 2010 into the ranks of AVN Hall of Famer William Margold's own Legends of Erotica.

Close friend Nancy Monroe, who for a time co-hosted adult icon Ginger Lynn's Blame It on Ginger radio show, told AVN that Cleopatra had suffered since a young age from cystic fibrosis, something she shared with few until recent years when the illness forced her to leave adult behind and work mostly from home in other arenas. Monroe said that by the end, only one-third of one of Cleopatra's lungs was functional. She had been on two lung transplant lists, and required breathing machines and mobile air tanks in order to keep breathing.

In addition, Cleopatra had diabetes, which recently led to diabetic retinopathy that rendered her blind. According to Monroe, she "was on the road to regaining her sight when she began doctor visits and telling me she was in a 'Scorpio Funk' and unhappy. Yet it felt like more."

Monroe continued, "We were chatting just last week and she never said she was in the hospital. Instead my last call with her on Saturday was, 'I am fading, so sick girl, so much trouble talking ... call me in a few days." My last words were our usual, 'OK, love you girl.' She was a wonderful, brave woman that fought adversity fearlessly. She is a woman that left her footprint on many hearts and shall not be forgotten."

Director/performer and industry journalist Steve Nelson, who broke the news of Cleopatra's passing Wednesday on his website AINews.com, echoed those sentiments in his story, writing that she "will be fondly remembered by most everyone who has been in the industry for the past 10 years. ... Throughout all her hardships she remained strong and resolute."

Another close friend, industry personality and publicist James Bartholet, told AVN, "I will miss my dear friend and send my deepest condolences to her family. I have so many wonderful memories of her, not just as a co-host and client, but mostly as a friend. I'll miss her drive, spirit and love and respect for this industry, and her love for her fans worldwide. She was a true star and a wonderful woman and loving friend. She was a wonderful force of energy and love, she loved and respected everybody, and she will always be in our hearts and minds. Rest in peace, my friend."

Monroe indicated that a memorial for Cleopatra is being planned for mid-September. Those interested in further details may inquire through Monroe's website, NancyMonroe.com.

R.I.P.

Candida Royalle, a former porn star who went on to become a pioneering female director in the adult film industry, died early Monday morning at the age of 64.
Royalle - whose real name is Candice Vandala - succumbed to ovarian cancer not long after tracking down the mother who abandoned her as a child and discovering that she had already died of the same disease.
At the time of her death, Royalle had been working on a documentary about the search for her mother and friends say most of the footage had already been shot. It is unclear whether the film will be released posthumously.

Legend: Royalle, whose real name was Candice Vandala, grew up in New York City and trained in dance and music before entering the adult film industry in 1974
Royalle was raised in New York City by her father, a professional jazz drummer, and step-mother and studied dance at music at the High School of Art and Design, Parsons School of Design as well as the City University of New York.
As a young woman in the 1970s, she started acting in erotica - going on to star in some 25 adult films.
In 1984, she decided to try her hand at producing the movies herself, and founded Femme Productions in 1984 - becoming one of the first female directors in the porn industry.
'Everyone assumes I was probably given a hard time by the adult film biz but they always treated me fairly, even if they at first doubted me,' Royalle said of her time in the industry, on her website. 'They've come to respect that I was the first one with vision and recognition of what would become the "couples" market.'
Somber: At the time of her death, Vandala was working on a movie about the mother who left her at 18 months. A private detective helper her track her mother down, but not before the woman died of ovarian cancer as well

After becoming a director, Royalle became a feminist figure in the industry and was well known for her outspoken support of female porn workers.
When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Royalle intensified her search for her long-lost mother, fearing that she did not have much time left.
'Nothing replaces a mother’s love,' Royalle told the New York Post of the film. 'There is nothing worse than thinking your mother didn’t want you.'
With the help of a private detective she was able to track down the woman who abandoned her at 18 months, but discovered that she had already died of ovarian cancer herself.
She was documenting the search for a movie titled While You Were Gone.

I had the great pleasure of being in the company of both Candida and Lauren; one as a friend, the other as a fixation of a long desire.

Candida moved from Manhattan out to the small town on Long Island I lived in. I learned of this through sheer serendipity, but upon my reaching out to her via email, she was incredibly warm and gracious. We went on little friend dates several times. I even cooked her dinner once at my house. Our relationship became rather close and we not only confided in each other about our mutual interest (sex) but also jelled on various other interests. After moving to Seattle, we remained pen pals. It tears my heart out that the fates felled her. She was incredibly vivacious and, to repeat, warm.

Lauren performed at Show World in New York in the early 90s, by which time I was already smitten. It was a MAJOR event in my life up until that time to conceivably be graced by her presence. And graced I was as she and I had private time in one of those peep show booths. She had a very winning worldliness to her -- the kind of gal you'd love to have all to yourself for romance and deep friendship. Though it pains me terribly to hear of her loss, I am glad we are joined by someone who can echo the impressions I had of her during my fleeting visit.
