Never forget that one of the 'weird northern pub games' featured quite prominently was darts!

Dear old Fred in his cardigan with a pint mug in one hand and a pipe clenched between his teeth. Made today's presenters look p-poor.

Used to go to my grandparents on school hols and Indoor League was a must - we didn't have these gameboys tha' knows.

Damn right do I ever remember it. Bought in (or shown across the network anyway) on ATV in the Midlands when that new-fangled thing 'daytime television' (meaning in the afternoons on three channels, 500 channel young ones) I remember, being barely in double figures in age, thrilling at the shove-'appeny, bar billiards... And at the end of every episode there was Fred, in chair, pint in one hand, pipe in the other.. 'Til next weeek, aa'll seethee'
