Their server's probably unavailable, it happens with every server. That's why I prefer to upload via their FTP client and my upload manager, it get the message straight away. Plus, you can use the manager with other filehosts which allow the option, like uploaded.net, hotfile or depositfiles.

I've already admitted to being a technological idiot many times. I have no clue how to use their FTP client. I click the tab and it gives me instructions, that truthfully may as well be in Portuguese. I'm going to see if I can find a youtube video to explain how to do this. . .on a mac.

Just like we saw in posts 2-6 with filesonic there is a possibility of getting a refund due to the recent draconian changes brought on by rapidshare if you paid via pay pal

A recent post on planet suzy (unverified) by someone whose been around since 2007

I'd guess this would be good for 30-45 days from the day you purchased your membership

I was uploading to my free account some stuff, and suddenly it came with lots of "failure", so I asked myself "WTF!?", and for my surprise, they came up with a new update from fucking nowhere, that now make your free account 10 GB 'up to 50 GB', for you to have access to your free 50 GB, you have to invite friends, do some marketing on facebook, twitter, install apps, etc... (you gain 1 GB by 'favor')

I avoided the above upload failures by only one method

Close site and start again for every upload

It looks like its been dismantled and the old 50GB limit is back is back fro free accounts

Obviously no one wanted to play earn the extra 40GB of limit
let alone what would have happened to what was over the 10gb

I've just had an email from Filefactory, they have increased the maximum size of file that free users can download from 500mb to 2gb.

We're happy to announce that we've dramatically increased the download file size limit for free members.

The previous limit meant that unless you were a Premium member you couldn't download any files larger than 500MB.

Now we've increased this limit to 2GB!

That's good news for me, it means I can finish transferring my files from Rapidshare and not have to waste my time splitting them any further.

Over the past year we have been working very hard to improve our quality of service. This has meant a heavy investment in infrastructure such as servers and switches, rack space and of course bandwidth.


98.5% of our users store less than 1TB of files. The other 1.5% of our users store a large number of files which consume more than 50% of our entire storage space. As per our terms of service (3. "FileFactory.com reserves the right to change or discontinue any of the Services at any time"), and our previous fair use policy, we need to take steps to reduce this amount of storage in order to be able to continue to provide the best possible service for the 98.5% of paid customers. We understand this will upset some people but unfortunately it is also no longer economically feasible to provide unlimited storage to a small number of users who consume so much space.


While there is no hard limit and the amount of storage space for Premium users can go beyond 1TB, if this level is exceeded then files will automatically be removed as required in the following order:

Files which have never been downloaded which were uploaded more than 90 days ago; then:

Files which have never been downloaded which were uploaded more than 60 days ago; then:

Files which have not been downloaded in the past 60 days beginning with the oldest last downloaded date;

until the amount of storage is less than 1TB.


In addition, we are reducing the storage limit for free users to 50GB.


The new measures will take affect in 7 days from today.

I've not had an email about storage space yet but I did get another one this afternoon where it said they have introduced a new feature where a file can be imported from any Filefactory account into your own. It was starting to look like they were trying to copy the Rapidshare set up before all the changes.

All roads seemed to be heading to FF

No surprise their not wanting to be the target of another deluge as seen right after MU was taken down - post RS deletions come 8.4.2013 will no doubt have a lot of content gone missing and the remaining hosts will be under an upload frenzy from the bread posters.

The limits coming in would probably work if the old model of

uploaders = those with the original content - 1%

downloaders = 99%

as opposed to

uploaders = 1% + anyone who feels like it earning a living or some pocket money

downloaders = significant amount of bread posters shopping for content to re-upload as their own

Wont ever go back to where it was and most likely the main casualties will be unseen material never shared from those with collections simply bypassing filehosts leaving just the bread posters who rely on the former for their content.
