It depends on the cause. For imagebam if the cookie is missing it takes some downloads until the cookie is retrieved. It then looks like this ("Image not found on page")

(I deliberately removed the imagebam cookie).

Perhaps I could add an automatic retry in these cases. I will think about it.

I have published the new version 0.0.17 to mozilla and chrome web stores.
The chrome web store takes a bit longer to complete the verification process, so it may take some time until it becomes available.

This version introduces an automatic retry for failed downloads.
The retries are done after all downloads are processed once.
The retry helps especially with imagebam if the first downloads fail because of a missing cookie.

With this version a default folder name is set if possible.
If the page is a forum page the folder name is built from thread title and page number:


If the page is a post, thread title. postnumber, and post title (if supplied) is used.


If the field is empty a time stamp will be used as fall back.

I published version 0.0.20:

• A simple progress indicator in the tool bar icon is shown. As long as a grab is in progress, a white square with a green bar is showing. The green bar grows as more downloads are completed. When all downloads are completed, the original id-icon is shown again.
• When a new grab is started, the list is cleared. This also causes cancellation of un-started downloads from previous grabs.
• Downloads are removed from the browser's download list as soon as they are finished

Thanks very much for the great effort @halvar. It works great.
I've noticed that jpgs hosted on pimpandhost.com are downloaded in the lower resolution instead of the higher quality. Is there a way to fix that please?

Thank you for pointing this out!
This is a little embarrassing, because I never noticed this. Pimpandhost uses another page to display the original sized images, if the orignial image width is larger than 750 pixels. Images with the lower resolution are named '..._l.jpg'.

The version 0.0.22 fixes this by appending "?size=original" to pimpandhost urls and using the download link for ibb.co downloads

version 0.0.23 contains:

• optional prefixing of filenames to retain ordering. When the checkbox is checked filenames are prefixed with a 0-padded number. Imagebam files are no longer automatically prefixed.
• additions to the filename by imagevenue and pixhost are removed (e.g. _123_390lo)
• only links to supported hosts are retrieved

Halvar, I really like this. Do you think that including a direct link to post would be a good idea? Maybe not good at all, I'm just asking

I always try to include the original link with my downloads, just in case I will want to ID models in the future and quote the original member. In 99% of the cases this would be a single post link, not a forum page link.

So all this time I was creating a txt file in the folder with a direct link to the source post. But since imgding now includes the post number, I just discovered that I can use the "template" link and add this number to it to quickly find the post. I don't think that this post number is searchable by normal forum search. Or is it???

So, after all, it looks like this post number is sufficient to find the original post, so maybe I will stop doing that txt file thing.

Regarding that template link that I've mentioned:

It obviously doesn't go anywhere unless you add the post number after the equation sign. The post number can be found in the folder name (if you download posts separately, as I do most of the time)
