I just finished "The Road Out Of Hell" by Anthony Flacco
Non-fiction, it tells the story of Sanford Clark. When he was thirteen (1926), his mother forced him to live with his nineteen-year-old uncle, Gordon Stewart Northcott, in Wineville, California. Northcott was a pedophile, who raped young boys, and murdered them. Clark himself was a victim of repeated rapes in the two years he spent there. Ultimately, however, the book tells how Clark was able to overcome his horrible experience, to lead a productive life. The movie "Changling" (2008), is based on a facet of the Northcott murder case. Well written, I recommend the book to anyone interested in true crime stories. |

2000ad - Jaegir
really enjoying the news series of Jaegir in 2000ad , superb writing by Gordon Rennie and artwork by Simon Coleby
( I am a huge fan , and got their autographs last year ) Jaegir » In The Realm Of Pyrrhus The Greater Nordland Republic. While the Norts are currently engaged in a galaxy-wide war with the Souther forces, it falls to military officers such as Kapiten-Inspector Atalia JAEGIR of the Nordland State Security Police to investigate war criminals amongst her own ranks. She’s also suffering from the Strigoi curse, a fault in the Nort DNA that can bring out the beast within. Now, she’s on a mission with her team to Nu Earth... |

The Slut Star Distributors
I managed to add this book today to my library The Slut by Star Distributors - I love the Cover artwork Note - Star Distributors was a New York City-based adult book enterprise begun in 1971 under the supervision of a trio of ltalian businessmen, Robert "Dibi" DiBernardo, Theodore "Teddy" Rothstein, and Andrew "Andre" D'Apice. While the adult publishing world is full of stories, none quite match the inner-workings of Star Distributors . Star Distributors was in business for some 14-5 years and their output was massive. Simply put, they are at the bottom -- of the Erotic Sleaze pile the nastiest, most twisted, most sleazy of all the adult publishers. so worth a read !! |

TBH,I just gave up on this,As a long time Barker fan it pained Me but it would have been more painful to carry on.A book with an appropriately tortuous genesis that's reeks of perspiration rather than inspiration,Where The Hellbound Heart was the work of an artist,This is journeyman stuff.Unconvincing characters,Dialogue beyond clunky and the most unforgivable sin of all,The lazy imposition of Christian mythology. In the original ,The Cenobites cared not a jot whether You were saint or sinner,You opened the box and You got an eternity of Their brand of pleasure,Here Lucifer and the Biblical Hell has been shoehorned in,As if the Mythos needed another Big Bad or another plane of suffering.I would not recommend this book to anyone,Read The Hellbound Heart instead..

The 'King and Maxwell' books by David Baldacci.
I'm just reading the sixth and final book in the 'King and Maxwell' series by David Baldacci. In order they are:
It was so nice to be able to read them one after another as I could keep track of the back stories. The relationship between the two main characters is central to the books' appeal for me as I sort of fell in love with Maxwell right from the start and I wanted her to find her peace. Each book stands alone as a story full of action, intrique and tension based on the 'power corrupts' model but each also leads us further on the path of discovery about themselves and each other that Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are walking. David Baldacci admits in one of the 'acknowledgments' to having been shown how to write fast-paced dialogue, and it is true that some of the later exchanges between Sean and Michelle are very much along the lines of the Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd characters in 'Moonlighting, and as amusing too. If Baldacci is sometimes a little too formulaic in his other books, I am certain that having read the first of this series you will want to read the next, if only to find out if... Well, I'll leave you to find out if you want!

Jaegir - Strontium Dog in 2000ad Comic
Looking forward to reading my latest copy of 2000ad today for the latest episode of Jaegir ( and Strontium Dog ) ( which arrived on time , for a change ) and finally got round to putting the completed HMS Repulse 1/350 scale Model on the Shelf next to my old 1991 HMS Prince of Wales ( 1/350 ) - it really shows how the after-market items like etch and brass add to the kit the difference between the 2 kits is night and day , with the aftermarket items and a decent paintjob ( and I know , I go on about it , but I really love the Silver Display Pedestals married to the Kit ' Trumpeter ' Dry Dock style Display Stand this is what the model would normally look like , using the Kit Stand |
