How many films did Roger ever star in that weren't total dross? He was a terrible Bond, but these may actually be his more presentable films. The Sea Wolves and (just possibly) Escape To Athena are his only semi-respectable acting performances I can bring to mind, and I'm being lenient. Whats the betting these weren't part of ITV2's Roger Moore season? A Roger Moore season. For an encore, perhaps we can have Roger Moore does stand up comedy: 12x 1 hour episodes. Free cyanide capsules in this weeks edition of TV Times. Hurrah!

Is it just me or are you suggesting that old Roger can't act? I happen to think he's the best bond and a mighty fine actor!
Is it just me or is the Earth flat and we could fall over the edge! (mind I did enjoy Wild geese)

Come on guys give old Roge a break I think this is one of his underrated films maybe the only?
Mind you if watching old Roge attempting to run in some of his action shots I am sure he suffers from his size 12 flat feet being the son of a copper |

I think the Roger Moore years were some of the best Bond movies .Probably he realised the plots were a lot of ridiculous cack, and played them with a bit of humor. The Dalton and Brosnan Bonds took themselves too seriously for my likeing, and Daniel Craig's Bond is just too far up his own arse to be believed

It's almost expected for some people to mock Roger Moore but I liked most of his Bond movies. I loved his character's sense of humour.
The Good ones........ Live and Let Die - most deFINEtely !!!, this holds many fond memories for me. The Man With The Golden Gun The Spy Who Loves Me Moonraker Octopussy No points scored though for the lacklustre A View to a Kill. |

Haven't seen Quantum of Solace, but I've seen that it was not terribly well received, However I was really impressed with Daniel Craig's first outing in Casino Royale, very fair reflection of Fleming's original creation BTW. Poor old Roger wasn't in the same league.

Roger Moore could do more with one eyebrow.
What most other actors could do with one eyebrow. |

It's not always fair comparing Bond actors with the benefit of hindsight. Personally I liked Roger Moore largely as I grew up watching those movies at the cinema and the script-writers tooled the movies round Moore's Bond persona just as they did for Shorn Canaries, Brosnan, Dalton etc. Mind you I also liked George Lazenby and it's a shame that OHMSS was his only outing. Maybe it's time for the Bond franchise to be rested. |

I always found Roger Moore's James Bond more humorous. He also didn't occasionally slip into a Celtic brogue like Sean Connery.

The only real Bond was George Lazenby in 'On Her Majesties Secret Service'.
Seriously though Sean had it nailed, and the best film he did was 'From Russia With Love'. Biggest gimmick in the film was a sniper rifle, so just good 'ol tough spying. Until Daniel Craig in 'Casino Royale'. That went back to the roots, and did it pretty well. You can probably tell I don't like too many 'deus ex machina' gimmicks in a film.
