I used to upload and post here regularly, but I've pretty much given that up. I use FileFactory (and have done exclusively for many years) and I pay for a subscriptionm as it is a useful source of other things such as blurays and so on. When I was regularly uploading and posting, I made a few dollars so that I might from time to time be able to pay for another month or two of hosting from that. I picked FF largely because most of the Fiona Cooper material was being hosted on FF and I wanted to download that. I have to say that it cheesed me off very significantly to be labelled a posting 'whore' or similar by those who think that everything in life always has to be free. Much of what I posted was downloaded from sites that I paid subscriptions for - with real money - but I guess more fool me. Yes, most things can be found for free if you look hard enough. Anyhow, my uploading days are pretty much over and I only upload and post now when I find something that is really worth sharing. If people don't want to download it, that's up to them and I shan't lose any sleep over it - and my uploads are worth more in the region of 50 cents a month than thousands of dollars.....

The only way too truly know is if uploaders post screenshots of their rewards page
like they sometimes do on wjunction.

I'd wager the 3/4k types use automated uploading on vast scale

The part people are forgetting is forum links get stolen by bloggers and the like looking to earn ad-revenue but too lazy to upload the content which can easily give any content massive exposure
whether they want it or not.

Blogs number in the millions

Adult forums in the 100s

One premium user here during VEFS cluster crash when VEF was offline for 2 weeks
could see his links were on 10 other sites still being downloaded.

We know the cash posters on here are more often than not, on several other forums and
boards at the same time.
As I pointed out on some recent Loops/oldstuff posts, it's not just the shit, slow hosters
they are using, but deliberately splitting files into small chunks, even though that
filehost allows big files, is just plain $hekeleering i'm sorry.

We're working on fixing this in CM while taking into account that certain preferred hosts have a limit on size of uploaded files.

My opinion about "cash whores" - it's he or she, who take files absolutely for free (99.99% of these ones take their files on one free torrent site) and post it on slowiest and crappiest hosts. I explain - cash whores not interest DL from filehosts - only from torrents (via special leeching service directly transfer files into their cash hosts accounts). After that - via special posting program (which contain forums base, their accounts & proxy) they spamming on many forums.

I have a more pragmatic approach to cash posters. Sometimes they post dvd sources and/or rare files and the former can be used to create new rips for the VEF community.
Downloading can be trying and annoying but with the right tool, like jdownloader, you usually get the file in the end.

And even preferred hosts are not ideal for everyone. Some struggles with 1ficher, depending on their internet setup and location in the world.

And yes, cash posters do repost your files on other forums. But my attitude, like Trump (never though I would say that!), is VEF first. If we want VEF to be a good content forum and also a friendly forum, we have a responsibility to post regardless what happens with the file afterwards. We can't use cash posters as an excuse not to post or surely VEF will ultimately become just like those other forums.

And bless the forum staff for making VEF the forum it is. As a former mod I know a bit about those difficult decisions behind the scenes, and their hard work actively moderating the forum is one of the reasons VEF has been a quality forum for years.

What about the people that upload pics to pimpandhost? Are they doing it for money? I just can't think of another reason to use a host that is banned in half the countries of the planet.

Going by our imagehost issues thread it was banned in 5 countries - not quite half

So far as I heard, the complaint was P&H hosted "underage" pics and became unavailable in AUS & SWE. At least that was the accusation. No idea if it was true, or what was meant by "underage"
