What can I say about Feb 14th ?.

How about if I spent today smashing a blunt hatchet into my face I couldn't have a worse experience than last year while with the ex for that loooong weekend

If I`d really wanted to I could have gone out to dinner tonight.
Yes with a non relation female of the female species.
Just found it impossible to generate any enthusiasm though.
Thus I have pissed her off.

Nothing wrong giving a little attention to the girls that day. Even if including a card. Or some lowcarb unicorns sliding down rainbows. I wouldn't really mind. Just think of it, Max, some days later from now we will be searching for eggs from a rabbit and celebrate it.

Valentines day has changed IMO and become just another money-spinner, as has Christmas.
By changed, I mean that up to not so long ago, Valentines cards were sent anonymously to a female to let her know she had an admirer - Will you be my Valentine? Now, such 'anonymous' cards are almost non existent and virtually impossible to find. The modern Valentines day card is not anonymous and usually has the words To My Wife or To My Girlfriend etc emblazoned on the front and is given openly.
I don't know whether taking one's wife, girlfriend or partner out for a Valentines day meal etc and giving them chocolates and flowers is a modern day phenomenon, but as it doesn't tie in with the anonymous card giving of yesteryear, it probably is.
Because of the way the day has changed, a whole commercial industry has now grown up around it - or is it the 'industry' that has created the change?
People of today would probably regard the anonymous giving of a card to someone you'd taken a shine to as slightly 'stalkerish' or creepy in our oh so modern society where even saying boo to a goose can land you in hot water.

After several long distance relationships, I was dating someone close at hand as it were. Since she was close, I wanted to go out for Valentines, she did not. But we agreed on the 15th, as earlier in the day her ex would take the child. I had hoped to broach the subject of a permanent arrangement, if not propose (ring at the ready). I came down with the flu. Spent the 14th quite ill. She called to tell me that evening since I had not called her, we were over and would not let me say a word.
Valentines? Bah humbug!

I wouldn't say that I am really unmotivated. It's more that I am motivated by the consequences of not doing something to make it a "special day". Will it be enough to appease She Who Must Be Appeased? I can only pray that it will. I am a bit concerned after last night that my gift of breath mints and bus schedules didn't fit the criteria.
