Dark City (1998) - First time Viewing...
- Great Star Trek - First Contact (1995) - Repeat Viewing... - Honestly kinda overrated, not bad of course but not the 2nd best Trek film as people claim. That goes unquestionably to The Undiscovered Country. - Me feeling that primarily is due to the campy earth bound stuff not being all that appealing to me personally. That said that portion of the film did go by notably more enjoyed this viewing then the last time I watched it. - The Borg Queen is a good villain but is also kinda overrated, they played up her sexuality to Data a bit too hard and such dispelled a good amount of her potential menace. Lucy (2014) - First time Viewing... - Fully blew me away. - The people who claim Scar is a bad actress are full of shit, the moment when she is basically saying goodbye to a loved one who she knows she will soon no longer be able to feel anything for is potent as fuck. - Action is great. - Very twilight zone-y ending which felt appropriate, Went into 2001 mind fuck territory but didn't go so far into it that you couldn't understand what was taking place. |

I watched a film I had earlier dismissed as stupid looking, Warcraft (2016) - due to the good reviews it got here. The film was surprisingly better than one would expect for a film derived from an old video game.
I did not recognize any actors - lots of CGI - but they did a good job. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0803096/ Viewing the imdb entry, I now realize that Ben Foster - who was pretty good in 2001's Get Over It is in this film. |

Impressive work from Natalie Portman. Now, if the film had only included the cabana scene that Larry Flynt published we would have really had something here.

100 Feet (2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0899128/?ref_=ttmi_tt Actually, I'm not a big fan of movies about ghosts, but this one is really good. Special effects are good and the sound effects are fantastic. |

A cult classic for a well deserved reason
I've as yet to see an Australian movie I didn't like , only
This Did it`s best to buck (I said) that trend at times. Because yikes it is unrelenting in it`s often disturbing awkwardness . Never allowing more than scant moments to continually sway you into mistakenly thinking everything is finally going to go smoothly for the title character. Who`s outstandingly played by Nicholas Hope. Yet it`s also a stunning film. Don't just mean the cinematography and amazing editing either. Really like the ending especially. Was it a happy ending that continues beyond the credits ?. I`d love to hope so. What I took from it is it`s underlying theme being about acceptance. Of others and more importantly yourself. I guess ?. Hey what do I know. I was daft enough to agree to be a Mod and so my logic is rightly suspect. All the same I liked and recommend Bad Boy Bubby. Apart from as a lover of animals (Not in the literal sense) and cats in particular this is a one off (Phew) movie viewing only for me.

The Founder. The story of Ray Kroc.
Good film. I recommend it. The funniest thing, though, I remember about McDonald's is the news report I watched years ago, when the first McDonald's opened up in Moscow. They were showing footage of all of these Russian people who had never even seen a hamburger before. They were taking it apart, looking at it...trying to figure out how to eat it. One old man took the top bun off and started eating the burger without the top bun.

The Man Without a Face (1993)
Trailer Chuck Nordstadt (Nick Stahl) lives with his mother and two half-sisters in New England. His relationship with the ladies is not in the best shape and he doesn't have any real friends either. One day he meets the disfigured ex-teacher Justin McLeod (Mel Gibson) who leads a reclusive life on the edge of town. Chuck asks McLeod to help him pass a military academy's entrance exam and the latter agrees. Despite some minor problems in the beginning, the two become good friends but McLeod has to face old prejudices, related to an unfortunate event that led to his disfigurement ten years ago. |
