And now for something completely different:

Does anyone have any painted "mecha" or sci-fi Japanese animation out there?

This time I've decided to include some surrealist art.

These are two paintings from an artist from my home-village. (nikolaus-kurz.com)
Unfortunally my scanner is not very good...
I made his first homepage about 15 years ago, and so i could select 2 reproductions from his presentation-folder (and also got a litte money for the work.. )
The passepartouts are personally signed by him.

The german word on pic#2 means "Time illusion" in english.
Size of my replicas are 21x29cm(A4), originals are about 50x75cm

The classic science fiction painterly animation is the remarkable French-Czech movie "Planete Sauvage" (1973); worth hunting down (easily found via Googling), but not at all "mecha"

For a painterly style of Japanese mech animation, the first I know of is "Gigantor" ( 鉄人28号 ), from the mid-1960s.
