It gets worse...but on the bright side, it's still better than Independence Daysaster (2013), which was on the Horror channel this afternoon.

Plot (such as it is)...
When Earth is attacked by a hostile alien force, a small town firefighter and a rogue SETI scientist team up to activate the only technology capable of defeating the invaders.

According to IMDb, Independence Daysaster was shot in fifteen days - and I can believe it...

I'd have to say, overall, this is correct.

The only films in the series really worth watching are the first Friday The 13th, Friday The 13th Part 2 and once in a blue moon Friday The 13th Part 4. Strictly in terms of them actually being scary.

The rest of the films are pretty much drek, and even the ones I enjoy out of the rest have nothing to do with them being scary rather than mildly enjoyable in a laughably dumb/stupid way.

i think that's being a little generous would rather be stranded on Mount Everest
for a Month than ever watch it again.

It's almost hard to even remember when National Lampoon stood for something occasionally decent in terms of quality comedies. Probably hasn't since the first Christmas Vacation (yes, there was a sequel years later and it was fuckin' awful).

It was a letdown, mostly because whatever one thought of Prometheus and Ridley's attempt to explain the origins/backstory of the Aliens, at least with Prometheus Ridley Scott wasn't simply content to churn out the same drivel the Alien series has been as far back as Alien Resurrection.

With Alien Covenant, that film - doubtless as a result from the criticism Prometheus got for NOT being yet another typical Alien sequel rehash - went back to playing it safe, which is to say it was yet another typical Alien sequel rehash.

I was bored watching it in the theater. Love the first two Alien movies. Alien 3 was interesting in spots. Prometheus was interesting in spots. Rest of the series? Pointless money-grubbing.

Jason Takes Manhattan, for me, was the bottom of the barrel in terms of the series. Sunk even lower then Jason Goes To Hell, which at least was so off-the-wall as to be laughably interesting at times. Sitting right alongside Jason Takes Manhattan was the 2009 Friday The 13th remake/reboot/whatever. That 2009 flick was a scareless, joyless slog to sit through.

AH!, but Christmas Vacation had the Anti-PHB Clark Griswald Rant.

Possibly, the best working man's rant of that decade.

" I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is!

Hallelujah!

Holy shit!

Where's the Tylenol?"

That's worth a few turd-grade movies all by itself.

Sharknado gets a pass because it's obviously a "Z" movie. Like TREMORS or CHUD or Killer Klowns. They are intended to be awful. So awful, that they become parodies of themselves. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Earth Girls Are Easy, green slime.

Nah dude. All 3 of those films are vastly superior to Sharknado and aren't even remotely approaching awful.
Especially Tremors.
All 3 of them have good to acceptable acting, good practical effects, they aren't scary but could he tense/creepy at points.

Z grade is something like Camp Blood. Even Sharknado is a ways ahead of Z grade.

Tremors, Lake Placid and LostBoys are my 3 favorite scary-ish movies.
