According to a Wakefield local paper, Peaky Blinders is largely filmed in Yorkshire, whereas Ripper Street, says Wikipedia, was filmed entirely in Dublin. (I remember I recognised Kilmainham Jail, which I visited last year, myself, and wrote a post about it in Things Noticeable, but that must have got lost in the January crash.)

The most promising new BBC TV series I've seen in the last couple of weeks is Peaky Blinders set in post-WW1 Birmingham. Very gritty, well cast, with good sets and some decent scriptwriting. They've obviously spent a load of money on it.

This makes quite a change from some of the total rubbish that's recently appeared on the BBC, such as the White Queen, which apparently cost £2.5 million per stunningly dreary episode.

On the other hand, it wasn't as bad as that truly awful puppet show which is currently being shown on BBC 1 each Saturday.

Yes we had it a while back, and it was excellent, there seems to be a bit of a problem with some TV series today in that they make three of four episodes out of something that really should be only two, so you get long gaps with little happening, or even complete scenes, which are either meaningless or a complete waste of time, which is a pain!

That said Vera was brilliant again! Brenda Blethyn is great in the part, but with her what else would you expect!

Yes Broadchurch was well made and well acted. Filmed in the lovely seaside town of West Bay near Bridport which I visited for a holiday a couple of years ago. Went on a bit but some good twists and turns in the plot. Watch out for a new series being made soon we are told.

Reading something on digitalspy.com and an interview with Cillian Murphy the star of said Peaky Blinders revealed that there wasn't much around Birmingham after it has been bombed historically and so they have been filming in Liverpool. There is you will be pleased to know already a second series in the pipeline.

Oh no I totally disagree as family entertainment and nothing to do with ITV's home grown muppets Ant and smegging Dec that seem to be on every bloody show. 'That Puppet Game Show' on Saturday nights is just great. There is a lot of adult humour that goes over kids's heads and some of the asides are very funny. The game show part is clever to mix the puppets(sorry Muppets) with the celebrities. Dougie Colon(Cologne) is defiinitely modelled on Vernon Kay and I think it works with a mix of British and American accents that are easy on the ear. I hope it gets recommisioned - better than Red or Dead, X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent any day of the week. I also wrote to Jan Moir of the Mail to berate her treatment of that show but I doubt she will reply. I don't think critics should compare it to past Muppet Shows because it is entirely different.

Sleepy Hollow is looking like it might be worth sticking with to see how it develops.

I caught some episodes of ARROW on SKY1 satellite channel and the finale to season one was pretty good so I may well try to catch season two next month. Also Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D starts next week on Channel 4 - as it is by Joss Whedon who has a lot of this stuff on television it should be good.
