It's also worth pointing out that many companies have strict laws regarding sexual harassment and the sexual treatment of members of staff. How can a person be expected to not sexualise a colleague, or view them in a specifically sexual way, when said colleague has sold the rights for their naked images to be used in publications for the general populace to masturbate to? As for Ms. Manhart, and the other women in these posts, their employers had a problem with the nudity. Some didn't see it coming but others---employed as Police, prison guards, military, teachers, should have know better. Just about all of them in the above mentioned professions with the exception of the military, were not initially fired because of them posing nude, but from the complaints/problems generated from said action.
As for the military, it is an interesting dichotomy. They want that image of their women as professionals and not sex objects, which does not take into account a woman's femininity.

Apparently, the men-packed school board learned about this and she was removed from her position as a primary school teacher. Now, Penthouse is not going to be sold to six-year olds. They are more likely to see Miss Lewis's wonderful pictures in an issue hidden in Daddy's closet. And I ask, what were those school board members doing ogling Penthouse? I understand what you're saying, but it really isn't that simple. The modern workplace - legally speaking - must be an entirely sexless environment. Being paid to pose nude for mens masturbatory pleasure doesn't really work with those principles.

Do you know the board was men-packed? You'll find that when these kind of judgments are made, men are no more puritanical than women.

I agree, but that wouldn't be the issue. It would about the perceptions of morality the parents would have of her as a teacher. It only takes a few puritanical parents and the stink would reflect badly on the school, so they avoid the hassle and let her go.

First, they may simply been informed of it without looking at the magazine. Second, if you consider looking at Penthouse to be 'ogling', then you reinforced the perception of posing nude for a magazine to be something seedy, or at the very least questionable, which is one of the reasons it's frowned upon.

I should point out about the Mississippi State cheerleader that she did not actually get kicked out of school or off the team. Technically she doesn't belong in this thread. MSU opted not to file any disciplinary actions against the young lady because at no point did she affiliate herself with the school in any way and the university let it go.

That's one of the biggest reasons people do get fired or thrown out of school for posing nude. They exploit what they do for a living or where they go to school and that can get some wicked backlash because, in essence, the suggestion is that their bosses or their higher ups somehow approved or condoned the actions.

As a boss or a higher ranking official, that often cannot be tolerated if they want to maintain any type of healthy workplace environment. That is especially true of those that have to have respect in their line of work (ie military officers, police officers, teachers.) Whether we want to admit it or not, it's hard for a person to respect you if they have seen you completely nude in a lustful manner in a magazine devoted to sex and sexuality for a paycheck.

Bikini clad photos of biology teacher Tiffany Shepherd cost her her job. Now, she's been forced to make a career change: into porn.
A Floridian biology teacher fired after posing for racy pictures has landed a new career – in pornography.
Tiffany Shepherd, 31, made headlines in April after bikini-clad pictures of her on a fishing charter got her canned from Port St. Lucie High School. She turned to doing porn, she told a Florida news outlet, after losing custody of two of her three kids to her ex-husband and sending out 2,500 resumes – some even to prisons – without landing a new teaching job.
"I'm not particularly proud of it. To be honest, I hate it," Shepherd told Page2live.com. "I'm an educated woman, but I never thought it would come to this. No one gets brought up thinking they'll be a floozy."
On screen, Shepherd goes by the name Leah Lust and has filmed five feature films, including one titled ‘My first sex teacher,' where Shepherd portrays the very job she's been trying to get back.
"It's very professional," says Shepherd on the Web site. "Everyone's tested -- for venereal diseases and AIDS -- and I'm carrying around my little piece of paper that says I'm fine. They love me because I take care of myself and I don't run out to party with my money."
Shepherd got into the business after the captain of the fishing charter that got her into trouble in the first place recommended it as a way to make good money. Captain Gil Coombes, of the boat ‘Smokin ‘Em,' owns a porn Web cam studio with his wife, Kat, called KLC productions.
"We sat down with her and told her she'd never get a teaching job again," Coombes told Page2live.com. "So I told her, use ‘em before they fall to the ground. But God, does she need to work on her acting!"

OK, 2 of the 'sacking' photo's look a little prevocative and they are posed in what used to be called a 'Glamour' style - and I guess we don't know how or where they ended up on the net - did she post them on Facebook herself or did someone else put them up... But, sacking her for these? I guess you just have to be so careful with the net these days but I do believe adults are entitled to a private life - it's just getting harder to keep it private these days as so many people have cameras in their pockets all the time.

LEVIS, Que. — A high school clerical worker who moonlights as a porn star had her cover blown when a student asked her for an autograph after he recognized her from a blue movie.
The woman, known by the stage name Samantha Ardente, has been suspended without pay while Etchemins High School near Quebec City decides whether the star of Serial Abusers 2 will keep her day job.
“It’s a first in our history,” school board spokeswoman Louise Boisvert told QMI Agency. “Even if she didn’t work directly with the students, we have to evaluate the impact that this story will have on her, on the students and on the staff.”
The administrative employee was recently confronted by a student who had seen one of her films. She refused his request for an autograph and told him to keep quiet about her double life. He instead told his friends and word eventually got back to the administration.
A teacher at the school says the news of the clerical worker's secret second job dropped like a bomb at the school of 1,400 students.
“What she did was inappropriate,” said the teacher, who refused to give his name. “But it’s not illegal, either. So we told the students that there’s no place for that (situation) here and we’ll see what happens next.”
The porn star will remain on suspension for two weeks while the school board decides her fate.
Meanwhile, the producer who hired Ardente told QMI Agency he had warned her about the potential risks to her reputation.
“She was very nervous,” said Nicolas Lafleur, owner of Pegas Productions. “She didn’t want to lose her job and I don’t think she told everyone, so it wasn’t easy for her.”
Lafleur has set up a Facebook page for Ardente where people have expressed their support.
