Overrated: giving celebrity and meme status to just about anyone. The two biggest examples the last few years, Ken Bone and this Super Bowl Selfie Kid. The kid will go the way of Ken Bone inasmuch that people will forget him quickly, and it bothers me that social media lends itself to giving people 15 minutes of fame. Something better to do? I thought the kid's Super Bowl moment was funny a bit, but from that game I was more interested in the reactions from Eagles fans that are bonafide celebrities. Will Smith for example, and I loved his video celebration. Kobe Bryant, didn't even know he was born in Philly, so I was pleasantly surprised and liked his video response. I'm over an hour away from Philly, so there's a tiny, loose connection to the Eagles, even though I don't watch football. It also helps they beat the Patriots, I just enjoy perennial winners losing.
Ken Bone, going back to him, fuck, this is where the celebrity thing becomes toxic, because then his dirt is dug up and it's ridiculous. Why is that newsworthy? I think he was a feet fetishist, which I'm down with as I love feet, but other stuff I read, TMI. Why is that news? None of this would be known if A.) the guy kept his mouth shut and just lived life like the regular goober he is, B.) people directed their minds to something more important. I mean the good thing is it's only 15 minutes, but the bottom line, it's a waste of time. |

Metallica.
Don't get me wrong, I would put Master of Puppets and Ride The Lightning up there with the best albums ever, but given the length of their career and the amount of crap they have produced, their legacy overall is hyped far beyond what it deserves. First three albums were solid, Justice was mediocre beyond a couple great songs, and the Black Album was not any better. Everything after that ranges from lackluster to complete shit.

Obscenely large asses are overrated. Especially those that are obviously implants.
Also tattoos and women with beautiful bodies that turn them into something resembling a graffiti covered back alley wall.

There are a lot of big veins and arteries in this area. Then the weight of the body is very heavy on the buttocks, in comparison the weight of the body is not as heaby on silicon boobs. It could become painful to sit down. Implants can move. So according to him, it's much better to accept to have a flat or a normal ass, instead to risk a lot of trouble later. |

Overrated...
Jennifer Lawrence- She has the acting ability of a B-Movie actress, yet gets praised like she's the greatest person to ever read lines from a script every time she's on screen. And her looks...Jeez. Pretty? Yes. Stunningly beautiful? No, not in my opinion. Nice body, though. Plus I've seen too many interviews with her that make her come off as very stuck up, but the media always portrays her as a "lovable, funny, sometimes goofy girl-next-door type". Yeah, right....
The Beatles- Ugh. I know some other folks on here said it. I'll say this...Boring music. So boring. People just go on and on about them. I didn't get it when I was younger, and I still don't to this day. Heath Ledger as The Joker- Here's one I know I'm gonna take some heat for, but I don't care. Yes, he was good. But does anybody really think that they would have given an Oscar in an acting category to a comic book movie if he didn't die? No way...

I'm kinda onboard with this too. He was alright, but not that great, I actually preferred Bane in the next film, I thought that was a better performance - physicality, intelligence, and just odd enough to be cool (a gorilla who sounds like a butler from a 'talkie' era film ).

All the other ones were very boring. But in fact I'd extend your observation to "almost all the famous bands in the world". They often wrote one to five songs that made them rich and famous and then they repeat them again and again and again on TV shows or concerts. That's soooooo boring. In comparison a good penciller or painter is always good and always produce new excellent drawings or paintings and is far less promoted than a famous musician. |
